Some Like it Hot (Err, Warm)

People who know me might say that I have a “thing for lotion.” Since I moved this past weekend, I noticed that my lotion supply, when assembled in one place, consists of approximately 15 bottles and jars of body lotion.

I have all types in my stash….

My personal favorite:

Johnson’s Baby Lotion. Love the scent, love the pink bottle…

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. The best cream for the softest skin.

Nivea Smooth Sensations. One of my newer lotions – this one is thin and absorbs really quickly.

And Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Lay it On Thick. THE cure for really dry skin.

Anyway, the point of this post was NOT to tell you that I love me some lotion. The point of this post was to talk about how to get the most out of your lotion. I dare you to try it!

Every day when I get in the shower, I first fill up the sink with the hottest water I can get. I then drop the bottle of lotion into the sink to let it soak while I shower up.

When I get out of the shower, my lotion is nice and warm and absorbs so much more quickly than “cold” lotion.

The warmth is so soothing and it feels like I get a little touch of spa every time I shower.

One word of warning: this trick may not work on brand-new full bottles of lotion because the water is usually not hot enough to warm them all the way through.

Do you love lotion – or am I the only one? What’s your favorite lotion?

I LOVE that Nivea Smooth Sensations lotion! It really does absorb quickly, is neither greasy nor too dry, and pretty inexpensive. I also love the light scent. Another great one of theirs called Pure Moisture (white bottle) but seems a little harder to find. I order it from Drugstore.com occasionally. I always have wanted to try that Cetaphil… do you use it on your face? And what type of skin do you have?

  2. I never thought about warmming up my lotion, but now can’t wait to try it out. I bet it does feel like a spa applicatoin. Thanks for sharing such a great tip!

What a wonderful idea, I cannot wait to try it. My favorite is from Arbonne’s anti-aging line. It smells fresh and light and citrusy.

  4. oooh, I’m going to have to give that warming trick a try! Especially in the winter!!

I LOVE lotion too – usually pretty smelly ones – but my favorite for dry skin right now is Olay Body Quench Therapy body lotion ♥
