Envious No More

Do you remember your first bottle of nail polish? I do.

It was dark blue and was probably Wet ‘n Wild brand. Since it was my only bottle at the time, I applied it often and used almost a whole bottle.

Since then, I’ve acquired a few hundred bottles of nail polish.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m a nail polish-aholic. (“Hi, Sarah.”)

I’m not a nail polish snob. I’ve tried every brand, and my favorites are Revlon and OPI.

But my polishes have always lacked one thing: staying power.

I have always adhered to the mantra of manicures and pedicures: base coat, 2 coats of polish, and a top coat.

And I thought all clear top and base coats were the same. Until today.

Enter OPI Nail Envy:

And my life has been forever changed.

You see, while I have always been addicted to nail polish, it has always repelled itself from my nails. Honestly, if I could go 36 hours without chipping a nail it is a serious miracle.

So I, in all my dedication to Chic Critique, chronicled a top coat test drive.

Day 0: The original manicure. I hope you can’t see any of my cuticle smudges.

Day 0Day 1: After a day of shopping and sitting in a surgical center waiting room.

Day 1 ADay 2: A day of closet organizing, dinner, and dancing. I washed dishes (no gloves!) and was generally pretty nail abusive. No chips at all.

Day 2

Day 3: Day of major activity. Lots of typing and pecking at computers and cameras and cell phones. I notice that my pointer finger is starting to become slightly worn, but it’s not what I’d called chipped yet.

Nail envy Day 3

Day 4: The day by which a normal manicure would have been removed. They never last four days. Never.

Nail Envy Day 4After 4 full days of wear, my nails are basically chip-free. I have a tiny chip on my left hand from gouging it into a box of crafting supplies. Oops.

Basically, OPI Nail Envy is my new favorite product. Which, being the product-lover that I am, is saying something. I am off to sing its praises high and low.

Seriously, what are you waiting for? If you paint your own nails, you need this prouduct.

End of story.

I’m a recovering acrylic nail addict…and Nail Envy is the only thing that’s been able to help me stay away from having the acrylics put back on. Great product!!!

  2. It’s official, I need Nail Envy. My polish usually only lasts 2-3 days and I rarely use anything other than light pink (Essie Mademoiselle, to be specific) because when brighter colors chip it’s so obvious. Maybe now I can finally wear hot pink polish!

I am in love and ordering a bottle now! Dish washing (I’m the only dishwasher in my house) and cleaning makes my nail polish look awful….thanks for the great review!
