I've avoided buying primer forever. It basically seemed like a way to make me spend more money on makeup.
But last year, after complaining that my eyeshadow never stayed on, my friend Jo-Lynne was like "Primer! Duh!" So I gave it a try and bought Mineral Eyeshadow Primer from eyes lips face for $3. And loved it. It worked so well – my eye shadow stayed on all day for the first time!
So when I was heading to New York for BlogHer – facing 90 degree days where I wanted to look my best – I turned to facial primer, which is what you put on before your foundation or powder. I know its hard to believe – but it will make an amazing difference. Even in 90 degree heat, people kept asking me if I had just gotten my makeup done. When I add primer to my makeup routine, my makeup does not move all day.
One of the best parts is that you only need a teeny-tiny bit. So even if you spring for a pricer primer, it will last you for quite awhile!

HD Microperfecting Primer by Make Up Forever is my absolute favorite. Although, I think next time I'll get the Make Up Forever UV Prime because it has SPF 50 (although its a bit more pricey at $30). I don't use it everyday, but when I have an important event or for going out, its perfection.

For everyday use, I just tried out L'Oreal's Studio Secret Magic Perfecting Base and it is fabulous! It minimizes pores really well and leaves my skin feeling super smooth and soft. It says you can wear it alone as well, but I just layer it under my mineral foundation and it works beautifully! And for only around $10 – this is an investment I can handle!
