Review: Mustela Stretch Mark Cream

When I found out I was pregnant, I was completely overjoyed. I couldn’t wait to embark upon a new chapter in my life with my husband, and it’s all I can do not to purposely induce labor to get this little guy here more quickly than he’s supposed to be {don’t worry, I won’t}.

After the excitement of finding out wore off, I began to think about the “inevitable”:

Stretch Marks.

I’ve heard tons of mixed messages about them: “If your mother had them, you will too.”  “No cream in the world can prevent them.” “It all depends on the elasticity of your skin.” and on, and on and on…

Regardless, I wasn’t planning on sitting and letting it happen without putting up a fight. I felt that I was prone to them, because I have some existing stretch marks, so I wanted to do everything possible to prevent them from making an appearance.

I began using Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action Cream from the beginning and was pleasantly surprised to see that I wasn’t developing any stretch marks – even when all the pregnancy books were telling me that I should start seeing them! I apply it to my baby-bump faithfully; once to twice a day, and it really seemed to do the trick!

Then I received a sample of  their Stretch Marks Survival Kit and my brand loyalty deepened. Included in the kit is their Stretch Marks Intensive Action Cream and their Ultimate Hydration Lotion. The Stretch Marks Intensive Action Cream promises to decrease the color and appearance of existing stretch marks – and can I just tell you? It really does. I have some on my upper thigh area that weren’t particularly noticeable, but now they’re even less so. I was thrilled to discover a product that actually delivered on it’s promises for once. Their Ultimate Hydration Lotion promises to nourish skin to help increase elasticity therefore preventing stretch marks. Well, I’m 33 weeks pregnant now, and I don’t have a single stretch mark on my ever-increasing belly. I’m pretty sure that speaks for itself!

Aside from the fact that Mustela Creams actually work the way they’re supposed to, I really enjoyed the fragrance {very important to a pregnant woman with smell-sensitivity!} and found that my super-sensitive skin never reacted poorly to the creams/lotions. For me, that’s really saying a lot.

I will absolutely be telling all of my pregnant friends to jump on the Mustela bandwagon. There’s nothing more comforting than the knowledge that when this pregnancy is over and my body starts making it’s way back to normal, I won’t have to worry about stretch marks!

disclosure: i received a this product to facilitate my review. as always, all opinions are my own.

  1. Gah! I should have had this when I was pregnant! I had stretch marks. Everywhere. Except on my belly. Just a warning: the belly ones didn’t appear until the last month. *sigh*

  2. Hi! I have stretch marks all over my thighs and arms and I will most definitely try this.Any idea how much this costs? Thanks.
