All Things Chic Tries a Blow Dry Bar… and LOVES It!

Last week, I was spoiled forever.

I went to a blow dry bar in Philadelphia called Heads & Tails. Now just so you know, blow dry bars are – and I say this without exaggeration – the greatest innovation in hair since the invention of the ceramic flatiron.

For a fraction of the cost of a salon, you can drop in to Heads and Tails and get a luxurious wash and blow-dry style. You can get hair straightened, loose beachy waves, glam volume.. whatever you want. All for around $35. While you’re there, check out their full menu of waxing services as well as tons of great products.

Is it worth it? Yes. I can honestly say that my hair has never looked that good. I recently had my hair done at a very pricey salon for an event and my hair looked not even half that good and took twice as long.

And the best part? With proper care, your hair will last. Mine lasted THREE DAYS. Twist it up in a loose bun with a hair tie when working out of sleeping and it really will stay. My hair was still wavy enough to wear down on day 1, I straightened it on day 2 and on day 3 it was in a glam ponytail!

Tips to make your blowout last:

  • Try to be careful while sleeping. Pull the back of your hair into a really high ponytail on the very top of your head at the crown and secure with your scrunchie. My hair was curled, so I twisted it into a loose bun.
  • Try not to touch as much as you can. I know your hair feels pretty and silky, but hand off.
  • Once hair starts to fall a bit, blast the roots with dry shampoo to absorb oil and then use a hairdryer to refresh strands. Touch up the ends with a flat iron if you need.
  • The last day of your blowout, hair is perfect for a up-do!

If you’re in Philly, check out Heads and Tails in Rittenhouse Square! I highly recommend it – I can’t wait to go back!

disclosure: i attended an event and had my hair done free of charge in order to experience the salon. as always, all opinions are my own.

Wow you look stunning!! I’ve heard of this before from a California blogger but I kind of thought it was a west coast thing. Thanks for the tip. I am going to try it sometime. Probably once they bring it to the burbs.
