Carly Patterson Weds in Vera Wang

2004 was a big year in women’s gymnastics. It was only the second time in history that an American had won the coveted All Around title at the Olympics. And the first time it was won during a non-boycotted Games.

When Mary Lou Retton won in 1984, the Soviet Union had boycotted the Olympics. Twenty years later, Carly Patterson wowed global audiences in her victory over celebrated Russian gymnast, Svetlana Khorkina. The US continued to dominate with impressive victories by Nastia Liukin in 2008 and Gabrielle Douglas in 2012.

This weekend Carly Patterson wowed audiences all over again at her wedding to Mark Caldwell. According to People.com, the Olympic Champion wore a Vera Wang gown and Jimmy Choo heels for her Dallas wedding.

I’m not completely certain, but her dress looks like this $6000 mermaid style “Gemma” gown from the Fall 2011 collection which Hillary Duff also wore for her 2010 wedding.

Unfortunately the photos don’t give us a glimpse at her shoes. Carly is known for her love of stilettos though, so I wouldn’t be surprised to find that she wore five inch heels like these on her big day.

As you can see from the photo she posted on twitter, the bride wore her hair in a sweeping updo, allowing her gorgeous chandelier earrings to take center stage.

And the sweet photo she posted on Facebook gives us a glimpse at her elegant, fingertip drop veil. It was the perfect length, just skimming the simplest part of her gown, and ending where the gown’s ruffles began.

Congratulations, Mark and Carly!
