What I Wore: Mom Fashion

We were supposed to meet up with friends for dinner the other night, but my one year old son’s ear infections reared their ugly head and we thought he’d last approximately 2.5 minutes in a restaurant.  Instead we opted to order some takeout from a restaurant next door and have a picnic in our condo – nothing makes you feel fancier than eating ahi tuna on the floor.  My son was still restless after dinner so we headed out to the beach to get out some of his energy, even though a storm was rolling in and it was starting to get cool outside – by Florida standards.

So I threw on this Nicole Miller lace tunic over my Joe Fresh navy shorts.  I’ve been scouting out some tunic tops lately – they’re so kid friendly…by which I mean hard for a kid to pull down the front.  I’ll wear anything that limits an impromptu flashing.
And now for the kicker…they’re both from JCPenney.  I KNOW.  You’d never guess it.  I shop there all the time now though!  JCP has had a total revamp over the past year – and since the store is packed with brands like Joe Fresh (their kids stuff ROCKS), a.n.a., and Nicole Miller, it’s become my one-stop shop for most of my clothes and a lot of my son’s.  And between mail coupons and in-store sales, super-affordable.  This outfit along was under $50 for both pieces!  And they definitely are classic staples in my book.
