As a mama, I get crazily excited about the opportunity to dress up for an occasion. So New Year’s Eve is always the top of my list! The last two years have been a bit tame for me, with being pregnant and nursing. So upon learning that we may be headed to a fancy cocktail party this year, I started talking my husband’s ear off about what I would wear. Glitz and glam, a champagne toast at midnight and everyone dressed in their best. Just how New Year’s should be!
My play-it-safe option involves tights to combat the cold weather that is sure to hit Cleveland this week. I added this teal dress and mint statement necklace, along with these amazing Maripe Sheeba black booties from Rack Room Shoes. These are, without a doubt, the most comfortable booties I own. I love that there’s a suede accent at the top of this bootie (where the snow and the slush can’t damage it! Although, you could always protect it with a Suede protection spray). Always need to be thinking about the elements! I actually wore this outfit to a rehearsal dinner recently and would definitely wear this if we hosted our own cocktail party one day. Although I may have to consider the Duchess booties as an alternative.
If the weather decides to play nice and I feel risky enough to bare my legs for our night out, I will definitely go with a classic black look. Add a bauble necklace to your little black dress, a bright colored clutch and then toss on some classic black pumps. Or, classic black pumps with a twist, like the Maripe Corina. I originally bought these for work to wear with some of my shift dresses, but love how they pair with dressier looks. These really are a pair that could go from the office to a party with ease.
What will your New Year’s attire consist of this year? Are you attending a black tie event? A cocktail gathering with friends? Or a more casual get-together?
