Welcome to the Party!

Welcome to Chic Critique, the beauty review blog by regular women who love to try products and potions and gab about them.  This is it, the big project that has been consuming the majority of my time and energy for the past week.

June of Bye Bye, Pie is my partner in crime, and we will be bringing you our favorite tried and true products as well as the ones we wouldn’t use again if our lives depended on it.  When
we find something new we want to try, we will Put That Product To The Test.  We realize that different products work differently for different women, so sometimes we will both try the same product to see how our experiences compare.  We will also contrast different brands with Product Brand Showdowns.

We hope to run about three
product reviews a week.  Make sure to add us to your feed reader so you’ll be the first to know when we have updated the site.  If you don’t use a feed reader, well, for cryin’ in a bucket!  Get thee to Bloglines and set up an account ASAP.

If you would like to help us spread the word, please feel free to grab the code below to add our button to your blog or website.

Later this week June and I will each share about our favorite beauty product, the one thing that we would never want to live without.  So by way of introduction, why don’t you tell us about YOUR favorite beauty product.  What would you not want to live without?

Thanks for checking in, and please make us a regular stop on your morning coffee rounds.

Comments

  1. Oh, yeah! First commenter! I LOVE THE NAME OF THIS REVIEW SITE!

And bring on the potions and products galore!

My favorite product: I love Clinique’s touchbase for the eyes. It just makes me feels oh-so polished when I’m oh-so not!

  2. Congratulations! It looks great. I can’t wait for all of the reviews and advice from you and June. You’ll be one of my regular reads.

  3. This is going to be so much fun! Make sure you do some reviews of products for us ‘over the hill’ type gals! Put the button on my sidebar and I will give you a shout out!! Love the name and love the header!!

  4. AWESOME!!!!

I love it! Glad you’re up and running!

I’ll be back… i can’t get enough of this stuff… (even though i never actually do anything with the info that i learn…)

    well sometimes i do!

  5. I love this blog! How utterly… well, chic!

The name is so adorable, too! I’m subscribing today, because I need all the help I can get in the beauty department.

  6. Great idea, guys! Looking forward to all your reviews. My fav product is Ahava’s Time Line for the eyes. I was never real gentle with my eyes when I was younger…paying for it now. If I need a little immediate tightening…it’s Prep-H. I’m still talking about my eyes!

  7. Much luck on this fun new project!

  8. I’m sure this will be a big hit!

  9. Absolutely adorable! Congrats on your new venture. I’m mildly jealous, but in a really happy for ya kind of way! 😉

  10. Great idea…I have been on a constant quest for the best mascara. Let me know if you find it!

  11. This looks great! I love the name, too! I will get you linked up in my links!

    Steph

  12. What a great idea for a review site! I know it’ll be a big hit! My newest favorite product is my mineral powder foundation. Mary Kay just came out with theirs in December. Love it! (I am biased though;-)

  13. I think that your website is a great idea! I love to try new products, but I am usually too cheap to buy them. Luckily, my Mary Kay lady gives me free samples when she has them. (Love her). My favorite mascara, surprisingly enough, is “Lash Exact” made by Cover Girl. I use the lengthening, waterproof formula. I have tried the non-waterproof, but I am just more partial to waterproof. I have tried lots of other mascaras, even Mary Kay, of which I am so fond, and none of them stand up to this one. I love the fact that it does not clump and the brush separates my eyelashes instead of bunching them together. I’ll be sure to check back in with y’all regularly.

  14. Congrats on the new blog! Love the name and the idea. Can’t wait to read the reviews!!

  15. Hooray for your new blog! My favorite Beauty product is probably Cover Girl Tinted Moisturizer.

  16. So exciting – can’t wait to read lots of product reviews! I’ll be adding you to my blogroll and recommending you to all my friends. My all-time favorite product is Avon Care Deeply Lip Balm with aloe. The best chapstick to apply 57 times a day; under and over any other lip product. And the best part… it costs 99 cents. I get 8 or 10 for Christmas every year and stash in every crevice of my home.

  17. I would have to say that I can’t live without my MaryKay creme to powder foundation. Its fabulous. Easy to use, does break me out and leaves me flawless and radiant. LOL

Well as best as can be that is.

  18. I meant, it DOESN’T break me out! LMAO

  19. OK, what is the deal with “mineral powder”? I’ve been hearing of it lately (I might be terribly behind the times, I usually am…)

I ordered some from my Arbonne consultant, and I am eager to try it if it’s as awesome as people say. But I am dubious– a powder that alone covers? Hmmmm….

  20. Thanks for all the great input, ladies!! This is FUN! Sheila, mineral powder is on my list of things to try. I’ll be posting a review sometime in the next few weeks!

  21. I just started using Bare Escentuals make up in January and I love it! It does take some getting used to, but yes, a powder can cover just as well if you layer it. And no more congealed coverup on your breakouts, or nasty make up residue on your cell phone.

Looking forward to reading your reviews ladies! 🙂

  22. Could you review several mineral foundations? I’ve been wanting to try one, but there’s so MANY out there. I usually don’t wear foundation, but I guess I’m getting old. I NEED it sometimes now!

Can’t wait to see all your reviews!

  23. Oh, this blog will be a fun read! Mary Kay has mineral foundation? Who knew?! I want to hear about mascara too. And why did Bath and Body Works stop carrying Aquatica gel souffle?? I loved that stuff. Okay, I am going to read the rest of the comments.

  24. My absolute FAVE was first Bare Minerals foundation. It changed my life. Now, I’m using another mineral foundation that is in compact form. I don’t know the brand b/c I get it thru a salon/spa place in town.

But Mineral Foundation is THE BEST of the best of the best.

  25. After a cup of coffee says:

Just found you today and added this to my bloglines 🙂

Like you, I almost never leave the house without mascara. My absolute fav product is Kiss Me mascara by BLINC. It does not smudge, smear or fade. AT ALL. It will even hold the curl in your eyelashes all day. It washes off with lots of water, but a few tears won’t hurt it. It forms a “tube” around your lashes. Cargo just came out with a version that is $4 cheaper, but I haven’t tried it yet.
