Pants That Make Me Pant: Gap Perfect Trouser

Before I get started today, let me first clear up all the disclaimers: I am not affiliated with Gap. I’m not one of the (OMG SO SO LUCKY!!) Gap Magic bloggers. I was not asked to write about Gap. I pay a whole lot of my own hard-earned money to Gap. So there you have it.

So, the Gap. Although I’ve always been a fan of Gap jeans, we’ve had our ups and downs over the last several years.

Hello, Long & Lean fit. Me love you long time.

Some years, I feel like my entire wardrobe comes from Gap. Other times, I feel like everything they have is too flowery or too ruffly or too… something.

(Ironic moment of the day: As I type this, I am wearing a ruffly tank and a cardigan with – you guessed it – ruffles. I am full of the awesome.)

Anyway. A month or so ago, I received a postcard in the mail for 40% off Gap’s new Black Magic line of pants. I loved the look of all the pants on the postcard, so I decided to go in-store to check it out. I wear dressy pants to work just about every day, and am almost always in need of replacing a pair that’s gotten too worn. Worst case scenario, I thought, was that I could use the 40% off to get a sweater or something.

Holy mother of everything, stop the presses. These pants? FANTASTIC. I went with the Perfect Trouser fit:

Because they really are perfect!

Because they really are perfect!

They’re stretchy without losing their shape, and the fit is exactly what I love about my treasured Long and Lean jeans – slightly fitted in the hip/thigh area, then flared at the bottom. For my body type, it’s a very flattering fit and I am SO HAPPY that Gap made this line of pants. In fact, I just noticed that they now come in brown (ahem, I ended up buying both the black AND the gray on 40% off day) – and since today is 10% off Tuesday for GapCard holders, well… you can guess what just landed in my shopping cart online.

I’m not the only one who loves these pants. Right now, you can read about what Slynnro thinks – and enter in the comments to win a free pair of Gap jeans! While visiting Slynnro, be sure to check out the adorable jacket she got to go with her True Straight fit pants. LOVE. (p.s., Kate at elefantitas alegres is currently giving away a pair of Gap jeans, too, if you’re interested. Hurry, though! Her contest closes Thursday!)

I’d love to know what you think of Gap’s new line of pants. What’s your favorite fit?

  1. I just got the Perfect Trousers last week and I think I really need another pair. I love how dark the black color is – I hate hate faded pants!!

  2. They look great! One question, do you have to iron them? I have not had ANY luck with Gap dress pants in the “no iron” category. I refuse to iron, i actually have an iron that I think is just decoration for my laundry room. If no ironing is necessary I am all for trying these pants. I have ALWAYS bought Express Editor dress pants, I have no other in my closet. They last forever, fit great, and wash with no ironing required (since I hang dry all my dress clothes).

  3. True story: I hate ironing so much that I take these to the dry cleaner! I’ve never tried washing them, but they dry clean great! 🙂
