Chic Summer Hats

We got a little taste of beach weather here this weekend so my mind is on beach fashion. The only thing more important than sunscreen for keeping your face looking young is a hat. If you have to wear one, why not make it cute?

There are so many to choose from I might just get a few and rock a new look every beach day.

I love a cowboy hat on the beach because no matter what part of the country you live in, they are socially acceptable with swim wear. I always choose a raffia or straw one, like this Lucky version, so my head doesn’t roast in the sun.

Lucky Cowboy Hat

I have never been brave enough for the big floppy numbers you see on television and on stars in US Magazine. But I dream of a day where I vacation at a resort glamorous enough to necessitate this one from Laundry by Shelli Segal.

This summer is the year of the fedora so now’s the time get in touch with your inner Mobster by the shore. Try this hot little red one from Pistil. It’s perfect for stylish sun bathers.

Of course, if you have kids they deserve some beach style too. This bucket hat from Quicksilver Kids is meant for little boys, but it is so darn cute don’t be surprised if you catch me on the beach with one too!

So keep yourself safe from the UVA and UVB rays this summer, but make sure you do it like any Chic Girl would; in style.

  1. Can’t picture myself in a cowboy hat, but those big floppy hats? Love them. Hopefully will have the courage to wear one out soon 🙂
I’m also a fan of a basic visor – one that I’m not worried about ruining in sea salt.
