A good friend of mine is going into freelance work and she asked me to help her find some great business casual looks on a starting-her-own-business budget.
My first tip – build your basics. We’ve chatted here before about wardrobe basics – white button down shirt, black pencil skirt, trouser jeans, navy blazer, black knee high boots… Bulk up your basics because these will give you the ability to stretch your wardrobe farthest.
Next, think versatility. Everything you buy, you want to think of at least three things you can wear with it. Take this super-soft turtleneck sweater and think beyond jeans. Pair with a maxi skirt for a casual chic, layer a white button down underneath and you have a perfect weekend look — add fun skirt – like leopard print – and you are trendy enough for a night on the town.
Don’t forget accessories!! Accessories are the easiest and cheapest way to dress up what you already own!
And don’t think work has to be boring. Don’t be afraid to add a little pop of color – or even a HUGE pop of color!
Now you can start your own business looking super chic!!
