Everyone stresses out about what to wear to BlogHer – and you really can just take a deep breath and relax. This is such a huge conference with so many different people from different places – you will truly see everything and anything – from careerwear to fancy dresses to jeans and tshirts with sponsor’s name splashed across them.
My best advice is to not stress out. (I type as I’m totally stressed out about what to wear.) Wear what you feel comfortable with – with shoes that will go the distance. If you are terribly uncomfortable in dresses, for heaven’s sake, DON’T WEAR ONE. You can look just as fancy in a pair of great dress pants and a flashy shirt! If you are tugging and pulling at an outfit you feel out of place in, it will show. You will be less comfortable and confident and feel more awkward. Wear something that makes you feel gorgeous.
1. Color
Color is a powerful thing. Wearing a bright color screams “Confidence!” and is a great way to stand out from the crowd. Break out that colored denim! Pair jeans with a bright cardigan, go for broke with a red dress for evening or – if your still color-shy – try a bright shell under a black blazer.
2. Day to Night
I know I have at least one day that is so busy that I’m not going to have time to change, so I need outfits that can go from day to night, sessions to party without looking silly. Go for outfits that can be easily dressed up or down just with a quick shoe change or the addition of a great statement necklace.
3. The Bag
Is it possible to carry a notebook, pens, laptop, business cards, camera, phone, chargers and energy bars around without a sherpa and pack mule following you?
Yes. Yes, it is.
4. Shoes
Your feet WILL hurt. Break in your shoes before you go. Buy some gel insoles to make those heels just a teensy bit more comfy. Go with comfort over fashion (Did I really just say that?) – check out brands like Aerosoles, Ecco and Naturalizer (who are all having sales, by the way!). They all make heels that are astonishingly comfy. I know you want to rock your 4-inch platforms, but trust me on this. If you’re not used to wearing them ALL DAY, you will be in too much pain to have fun!
What are your fashion tips for BlogHer?

For lack of a better word…loving the “swoosh” in that white blouse!
Great advice and outfit suggestions!

Love your choices and I love love a pop of vibrant color! I always pack a black jersey skirt on trips because I can literally wad it up and toss it in my suitcase and it still looks good! My faves you featured are the fun orange dress, the jeans and blouse outfit (love those earrings) and the blazer and jeans outfit with the lacy vibrant top. Cute!
I can’t help to chuckle a little…it reminds me of jr. high/high school (all the girls worried about what to wear!) But you’re so right – wear clothes that are YOU! It’s easy to tell when someone is uncomfortable with something that they have on.
Those are some great looks and tips!! I especially love all of your green accessories in your day-to-night look!
These are awesome. I hope to someday be able to attend blogher and I KNOW I will be stressing out big time!!! lol.
I need to know about that zig zag laptop bag. I know I know I don’t need another bag, but still. Great compilitation though. Love!
Love this post. It’s all about comfort and showing a little personality. Color is so key as are accessories. And never be afraid to bring too many shoes.–Nicole
Not sure what it is, maybe that I worked in NYC in a suit for several years, but I love blazers worn casually with jeans and a pop of color mixed in. You will be quite stylish come Blogher.
Great advice! I love the pink chevron bag! 😉
Another option for comfortable shoes are Cole Haan Air Tali wedges. Highly recommend for long hours walking the expo floor.
I love all of these looks! Especially the middle one with the green accents. Yum!
Great suggestions! Can’t wait to meet in person at blogher!:)
