Confession: Until I was in college, I never wore makeup. I know. How I ever survived those adolescent years with nothing more than some drugstore cover-up is beyond me. I suppose I was lucky that I did not need eyeshadow and all that jazz. Certainly now as I’m nearing 30 (gulp) I have to apply some products to make myself presentable for the public. After lots of trial and error, I’ve perfected this five minute makeup routine. The products might change slightly over the years, but the basic routine remains the same.
1) Garnier Skin Renew Eye Roller 2) Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation 3) Philosophy Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas powder
4) Too Faced Natural Eyes 5) Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
6)Neutrogena Skin Clearing Concealer 7) elf Bronzer 8) Make Up Forever HD Finishing Powder
The eye roller is the first thing that touches my face. The rolling action combined with a hint of caffeine smooths out any puffiness while concealer brightens instantly. Any problem areas get some attention from the skin clearing concealer before I smooth on my liquid foundation and dust on powder. I add contour to my face with bronzer by making a fish face and sweeping the bronzer on the hallows of my cheek bones and then around the edges of my face.
Next up are the eyes – I line them with one of the dark brown shadows, it’s not as ‘exact’ as a pencil, but it does the trick. The lightest shadow highlights the inside corner of my lid and a medium shadow is swept across the whole lid for a very natural looking eye. And I actually sometimes use the darker shadows to fill in my eyebrows if needed. I love makeup that can pull double-duty!
Before I sweep on my mascara, I quickly set my makeup with the HD finishing powder. Add some Great Lash and I’m ready to go. It’s the perfect routine to get out the door quickly, but still have a look that is clean, polished and lasts all day!
This is a good quick routine. A lot of other tutorials have a system that may be to time consuming. This will just highlight your natural beauty.
thanks! i spent years trying to do too much in terms of makeup. if you keep it simple you look polished but not overdone 🙂
I want to try that Supernatural powder!
