Like so many moms, I practically LIVE in jeans. Almost every day, I pull my jeans out of my closet without even thinking and then decide what to wear with them – my daily dilemma is limited to one questions: jeggings, flares or my new favorite, colored denim?
JEGGINGS: I was very skeptical of the jegging when it came out, but it quickly became a wardrobe staple for me. I love the jegging! Even if you feel you’re too heavy to pull it off – consider this: Most jeggings have an elastic waistband and no pockets. Meaning, comfy waistline and zero bulk under your clothes. Pair your jeggings with a longer, cozy sweater and tuck them into your boots for a comfy everyday look. Or wear a tunic and heels for a night on the town.
FLARES: Every woman should have a pair of slightly flared trouser jeans in her closet. They are universally flattering, a classic style and when paired with heels, they make your legs look miles long. The key with flares is to hem them properly. They should be about a 1/2 inch from the floor, so you may need to invest in one pair for heels and one pair for flats… which brings me to the Golden Rule of Denim. Get a pen and write this down: When you find a great pair of jeans, buy two. A great pair of jeans is hard to find, and when you find a pair that you love – especially if that pair is on sale – buy two. You will not regret it.
COLORED DENIM: This is one of my very favorite trends! My closet is full of black, gray and neutrals. So I and loving a trend that allows me to take an old black shirt out of my closet, pull on a pair of jeans – jeans – and took totally amazing and trendy! Score! Give it a try. If you’re not feeling bold enough for red, go with cobalt and pair it with navy. Or even light yellow instead of white in spring.
