Shiseido Elixir Treatment Mask

A few weeks ago, a friend gave me a bottle of Shiseido Elixir Treatment Mask to review.  She told me that she has used many a mask and exfoliant, and this one is head and shoulders above the rest.  She loves how soft and smooth it makes her skin feel.

I have to admit, before starting Chic Critique, I was neglecting my skin.  I’ve always cleansed and moisturized nightly, but I’ve never been one to use other treatments such as masks.  My skin was begging for mercy.

I’ve noticed an incredible difference in the texture of my skin since I’ve started using weekly treatments.  I’m not sure it matters much which treatments you use, as long as you do SOMEthing.  I was eager to try the Shiseido Elixir, but I didn’t expect it to be much different than all the rest.

This is a peel-off mask.  I have never tried a peel-off mask before, and it was quite an entertaining experience for me as well as for my kids, who happened to be in the bathroom when I removed the mask.  Their reaction was hysterical; I only wish I’d taken the time to capture it on video.  Both were rather disgusted by the whole procedure and finally said, "Let’s get out of here!" before they ran for cover.

It almost hurt to pull it off, which was slightly unpleasant, but I will tell you this — after the mask was completely peeled off, my skin felt softer and smoother than ever.  Swear.  I toned and moisturized, and then I lay down with my 5-year-old daughter on her bed for our nightly pillow talk.  As we lay there together, I felt her skin with one hand and mine with the other to compare, and mine was softer.

The Shiseido mask is gentle enough to use twice a week, and if I didn’t have so many cool products I want to try, I’d be using it at least that often.  I hope my friend doesn’t want her bottle back!
