Breakouts, Be Gone!

Earlier this summer, my mom treated me to a facial for my birthday.  Facials are recommended four to six times a year, but I’m lucky to go once a year.  If you have never had a facial, or haven’t had one in the last year, I highly recommend it.  Besides being great for your skin, they are utterly relaxing and pampering.

A facial consists of cleansing, skin analysis, exfoliation, extraction, facial massage, a masque targeted to your skin type, application of toners and creams, and advice for home care.  A good esthetician will tailor the facial to your skin type and skin concerns.

I’m at that coveted stage in every woman’s life where I have wrinkles and and breakouts forming at the same time.  Charming.  So when my esthetician got to the advice for home care, she recommended two products for me to try.  The salon I use sells and recommends the Dermalogica products, and they gave me samples of the MediBac Sebum Clearing Masque and the MediBac Overnight Clearing Gel.

I’ve used both, and I have to say that I’m not thrilled with the masque.  It’s not that I dislike it, but I really don’t feel like it has made much difference in my skin.  I do, however, LOVE the overnight clearing gel.  I’ve used it twice when I had a big zit coming on, and both times it went away without every fully manifesting.  Which in my book, is nothing short of miraculous.

I haven’t yet found a cure for the wrinkles, but at least there is something I can do about the breakouts.
