Celebrity Airport Fashion

Rumor has it that Victoria Beckham packs sweats in her carry-on to change into while on the plane. That explains how she can pull off styles like these at the airport…

Victoria-1

I love Victoria’s style, but I know I couldn’t pull off heels like that at an airport. Especially without David Beckham to pick up my suitcases at baggage claim. But even if I can’t dress exactly like Victoria, I can choose to look decent when I travel.

Here are my five essentials for celebrity-worthy, airport-comfortable styles:

1. A fabulous trench coat.

Layers are essential! Planes and airports can go through extreme temperature shifts. A trench coat is a great option to keep you warm without adding too much bulk – and if you get a little warm, it’s easy to unbutton or remove. Bonus, a good trench coat will resist wrinkles fairly well!

I love this $2000 Burberry trench, but you can get a similar look at Forever 21 for much less.

2. A big, cozy scarf.

Another obvious essential, a good scarf can be used countless ways in-flight. For example, it can serve as a comfy shawl around your shoulders, a stylish scarf that keeps you neck and chest warm, or even a soft pillow on a long flight.

Again, you could pick up a luxe cashmere scarf at Burberry or a similar look made of baby alpaca from Peruvian Connection for 1/6 of the price.

3. A good pair of shoes.

Victoria may be able to pull off five-inch heels at the airport, but I know I can’t. Instead I travel in low-heeled boots, flats, and loafers. You could try Pioneer Woman’s favorite FRYE boots, these Rockport ballet flats, or even these Bass loafers. So many options!

Just don’t wear sneakers. Or hiking boots. Ever.

4. Comfy pants.

The key here is not to wear sweatpants. And, no matter the brand, please don’t wear those hideous velour pants in public.
Instead get a great pair of stretchy jeans, leggings, or comfy trousers. They should be fitted but not irritatingly tight; relaxed but not sloppy.

These GAP khakis are ideal for travel – they’re form fitting with enough stretch to make them comfy en route. They’re also really affordable at barely $40 for a pair. If you can splurge a bit, you could pick up these lovely Alice + Olivia cotton/lycra wide waistband pants for about $250 instead.

5. A classic tote.

Rachel Zoe adores this $1700 Kate Moss for Longchamp travel bag. I agree that it’s lovely, but I prefer Kipling’s $98 Sherpa tote. Plus, if I had $1700 to blow, I’d spend it on my dream boots. It’s big enough to throw in all my essentials – including my laptop, several magazines, headphones, and toiletries – without feeling bulky. It folds easily into a suitcase if I don’t need the extra space, and best of all, slips over the handle of my matching roller bag.

Plus, who doesn’t love those adorable Kipling monkeys?
