With the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge off traveling in Canada, Prince Albert of Monaco wed his lovely bride, Charlene Wittstock. Pity that Catherine wasn’t there – I would have LOVED to see what she would wear – but the new Princess of Monaco did not disappoint.
What a beautiful gown! Gorgeous detailing in the front, long sweeping train in the back. Princess Charlene wore a silk, off-the-shoulder Armani gown that elegantly flattered her Olympic swimmer’s figure and, most impressively, managed to withstand wrinkles throughout the day. Admittedly when shopping for my own wedding gown, I tried in vain to find a gown that wouldn’t wrinkle for photos. Kudos to the Princess for her wrinkle-free success!

The palace said that more than 2,500 hours of work, 88 yards of silk and 40,000 Swarovski crystals went into the gown. Clearly it was well worth it.
Like many royal brides, Princess Charlene entered the church with a veil covering her face, and exited with the veil pulled back over her shoulders. And when she did come out of the church, the Princess afforded us a good look at her gorgeous hairclip. Very royal – shiny, but not flashy. Besides being a practical way to hold her veil in place. Loved it!
And last but not least? The attendants. Are they flower girls in Monaco, or bridesmaids, as in the British tradition? Whatever they are, they’re gorgeous.
Many congratulations to the bride and groom!
