How to Wear Volume

Volume is in style, but sometimes it’s hard to know how to wear it so that it doesn’t add volume in places that you don’t want it. They key, as always, is balance. Here are a few tips to wear the voluminous trend without looking, well, voluminous yourself!

1. Generally, you want to go with one area of volume. If your top is voluminous, go with something fitted on the bottom. To avoid looking like an ice cream cone, you can always wear a chunky shoe or boot to offset the volume on top.

2. Want to wear a voluminous dress or skirt? The length is critical. Shorter is better. (But don’t go too-too short… you always want your skirt length to be age appropriate.)

3. If you are taller, you can get away with more volume. Also, pay attention to your body type. You want to choose volume to showcase your assets.

Got great legs? Go for a short kaftan over leggings.
