Color blocking has been a growing trend over the last few seasons that I do not see dying out any time soon. What is color block? Basically it is two or more solid colors of fabric sewn together in geometric form. The most common look is a dress with a different color top and bottom giving it the illusion of two separates but designers have been interpreting it into many transformations going well beyond dresses to shoes and other accessories.
What I love about color block dresses is that they need minimal styling because they become the signature piece. Coordinated with simple earrings, maybe some bangles, a handbag and shoes and your polished and ready to go.
Igigi released two new color block dresses this week. First is the plus size Alexandra Colorblock Dress ($108) which comes with a black base and a choice of terracotta/truffle or plum/navy:

The second is the plus size Nicole Dress ($108) which also has a black base and the choice of berry or Parisian Green:

I love both of these Igigi dresses but of the two new styles I prefer the Alexandra because they took some obvious consideration to what the back of the dress would look like and mirrored the color block on the back. The Nicole dress just looks like a boring black dress from behind.
What about you? Do you like to carry the color block theme to the back of a garment or do you like to keep it plain back there?
