My Favorite One Piece Swimsuits

Last summer, I was 20 pounds overweight and desperate to find a stylish one piece for our beach vacation. I ordered a dozen swimsuits online (to try in the comfort of my own home, thankyouverymuch) and eventually found two by Jantzen in which I could feel both comfortable and not matronly. A rare find in one piece swimwear…

As proof of how comfortable and not matronly I felt in these swimsuits, I’m even including photos of myself in this post instead of just the perfect size 2 models I usually feature.

The first is this gorgeous teal one piece by Jantzen. The high neck helped to make my shoulders appear slim, and the lovely ring detail took the attention off my belly and thighs. (A skirt coverup helped with that too, but I digress.) Wear lots of sunscreen and spend the hottest part of the day in the shade to avoid little circular tan lines on your chest… something I try to do anyways to avoid skin cancer and premature aging of course.

The back of the swimsuit is low enough not to look matronly, but high enough that it managed to cover my love handles. The cups stay beautifully in place, making it perfect for beach volleyball or water polo. I was thrilled – this stylish one piece helped me feel confident and comfortable at the beach. Truly worth its weight in gold!

I’ve now lost those 20 pounds, but loved this swimsuit so much, I’m ordering it again. Can’t wait to wear it this summer, 2 sizes smaller!

The second is a maillot which I ordered in red, also by Jantzen. I felt a bit like a Greek goddess in this swimsuit, and loved how the belly ruching helped to hide my flabby abs. The gold hardware on the straps adds a fun touch of glamour too.

I usually like to wear two or three swimsuits on a given beach vacation with varying straps (over the back, halter, etc) to avoid tan lines, and this halter one piece did that job beautifully. It is not, however, a good swimsuit for working out on the beach. No matter how tight I tied that halter, the cups did tend to slip around a little more than I would have preferred.

But if your beach vacation just involves drinking a piña colada and flipping through magazines on a lounger, you will look perfectly glamorous in this suit.

This was one of  the first summers I “had” to wear one pieces at the beach, but thanks to these lovely swim fashions by Jantzen, I’ve never felt more confident. Truth be told, I’m not sure I would go back to a bikini now, even if I could!
