We just love Octonauts – an adorable show of colorful animal characters who explore the world under the sea. My son is obsessed with everything ocean-related – fish, sharks, penguins, you name it! – so this is a huge hit with him! I’m sure we’ve seen every single episode in the past year! We are huge Disney Junior fans – and Octonauts is no different.
Octonauts is an animated television series for preschoolers age 2-6, airing on Disney Junior at 6:30 AM EST. (Thank goodness for the DVR! And On Demand!) Colin and I often catch up on what we missed after lunch and pre-rest time and follow the adventures of the underwater hero team that, “Explore! Rescue! and Protect!” the creatures of the sea.
My kids tend to gravitate towards educational kids shows, as opposed to silly ones. Perhaps its because on a family movie night, you are more likely to find us watching a documentary like Planet Earth than a typical kids’ movie! Maybe that’s why we love Octonauts – each episode centers around a mission to rescue of a real aquatic creature and is sprinkled with tons of facts about animals. I’ve actually learned a ton from watching it! There are lots of catchy songs and fun facts that make this show educational, but still really entertaining.
I love that kids are learning scientific concepts while learning about teamwork and environmental responsibility. We’re very committed to teaching our kids to be green and this is a great tool. It would make a perfect tie-in for Earth Day! And while the show is technically geared for ages 2-6 and my older kid said “That’s a little kids’ show” they all snuggled up and watched the whole thing and were laughing along with their brother! My ten-year-old said, “That was so super cute! Can we watch more episodes?”
So there! Even too-cool-older-siblings love Octonauts!! You can learn more about the show at Octonauts.com and on their facebook page at FB.com/Octonauts
disclosure: i’m so excited to be an octonauts blog ambassador. this post is part of a sponsored campaign but as always, all opinions are my own.
