This week, I went to my first ever Just Between Friends Sale.
OHMYWORD, PEOPLE! This is life changing.
Just Between Friends is the nation’s largest children’s and maternity consignment sales event franchise. To sum up – its a bargain shopper’s dream! Like REALLY. I just went to the one in Philly and just about DIED.

This is the MOTHER of all consignment sales. A huge room full of new and gently-used children’s and maternity merchandise to sell. Shoppers can then browse and purchase these items at great savings, usually far below retail prices.

Like the Lilly Pulitzer dress I scored for Gracie for only $12.
Like the Phillies jersey I scored for Colin for only $6.
Like the 4 other dresses I scored for Gracie all for under $5.
And this little baby…

Do you know how much these cost? This exact one is $199. My price?? $100. NEW IN BOX! Its never been opened! SCORE!
Seriously – this place is amazing. I will be hitting this sale EVERY time it’s in the area. Why spend tons of money on full price clothes and toys when you don’t have to?
A few tips for consignment shopping for kids items:
- Inspect : Make sure you inspect clothing thoroughly for holes and stains… but also keep shrinkage in mind. I’ve bought perfect looking clothing in my kids’ sizes, only to find it is actually the size smaller due to shrinkage!
- Know your brands : A dress from Target for $5 is not as good a deal as a Lilly Pulitzer dress for $20. Go for higher end brands to snag the best bargains on the highest quality!
- Safety first : Be aware of recalls, especially with items like strollers and high chairs. Just Between Friends has a list ON SITE of all recalled items that is updated monthly. Not all shops and sales are this diligent and it is up to you, the buyer, to be informed.
- Have a plan : Know what you need and prioritize. I wanted a Power Wheel for Colin for his birthday, so I headed straight there. SCORE! Next, I headed over for some clothes for the kids. Finally, I dropped into toys to see what was there.
Good luck and happy shopping!!!
disclosure: i attended a preview of the jbfphilly event as part of a blogger promotion and received a gift card to do some shopping. as usual, i spent way more than the gift card once i got going and found all those bargains!! all opinions are my own.
