A New Way to Visit Your Doctor

Hate the cotton or paper gowns in your Doctor’s office? Sharon Linder of Get Janes has a solution. Bring your own! Her affordable gowns ($32) come in an excellent size range (8 to 4x), are a soft waffle knit that is both comfortable to wear, warm, and easy to care for. They were initially designed for commercial use so they are made to last.

Sharon sent me a sample to review. I had the opportunity to wear and wash it a few times. For the most part I think it is an awesome alternative, I know my doctor’s office never has a gown big enough and they are not open to buying larger sizes for their larger patients. The whole environment is awkward to begin with without having your behind or anything else hanging out. The gowns are roomy and adjustable with an inner and an outer tie. The only thing I did not like was how the neckline fabric seemed to be stretched as it was sewn into the bias tape so it does not sit as nicely as you see on the maniquin above. To avoid gaping I actually had to fold the edges over like a collar. Otherwise I was quite comfortable and warm all day.

Sharon started Get Janes to “honor my Mother, two sisters, and all survivors of cancer”. The gowns are perfect for regular doctor visits, procedures, or hospital stays. When you buy Janes “2% of the profits from each sale help fund free mammograms for under-served women”.

Have you ever been tempted to bring your own gown to an appointment?
