If you’re looking for a classic, storybook New England vacation spot, think Block Island.
If you’re looking for boardwalks, amusement parks and fast food… look elsewhere. This is an island for bike rides and fishing. Long days at a quiet beach. Bare feet. Lingering over dinner at sunset. There are two very rustic movie theaters that operate at night or on a rainy afternoon. It’s a place to make your own fun and play board games.
Block Island features 17 miles of pristine beaches, protected by lighthouses and spectacular 250-foot bluffs, and surrounded by rolling roads and winding paths. Hundreds of freshwater ponds, rolling green hills… its like you’ve gone back in time. So bewitching is it that The Nature Conservancy was inspired to call the island ‘one of the last great places in the western hemisphere.’
Perfect for couples and families!
The island is only 12 miles off coastal Rhode Island! Just a quick ferry ride and you’re there! (You can bring your car, with a reservation made well in advance, but you don’t really need one. You an also bring your own bike on the ferry for around $12).
We fell in love with Block Island INSTANTLY. So will you.
