When you are exploring beautiful Providence, you need to hit the Roger Williams Park Zoo!
We loved it so much we joined as members! Its a great size – tons of exhibits, but not tons of walking. You can easily tackle the zoo in 2-3 hours. Its spread out enough, though, that you aren’t tripping over people everywhere. It has a nice flow that keeps people moving and its easy to find your way around. On top of the beautiful exhibit spaces, they also offers Harbor Seal and Giraffe feeding programs for kids ages five and over, starting at $20 per participant.
We saw so many incredible animal exhibits – we loved Marco Polo’s Adventure Trek – I kinda love camels – the Wetland Trail and especially Hasbro’s Our Big Backyard – the ultimate play place! We could have spent the whole visit there!
New for 2014 at the Roger Williams Park Zoo is the Outback Trail (Australasia), a walk-through exhibit where guests enter a rustic cabin and cross a moat and hop along a trail to get an up-close and personal look at kangaroos and wallabies. Be careful though — they can get really close!! (Gracie almost got run over by a wallaby!)
Admission is $14.95 for adults, $9.95 for children (ages 3-12), $12.95 for seniors (ages 62+) and children under 3 as well as zoo members get in free. For more information, please log on to www.rwpzoo.org.
