We have finally reached the point in the overhaul of our downstairs that we can start putting the new living room together! We’ve slowly been gathering pieces for this room – a sectional, a chair, a ginormous ottoman – and of course, our Edge Water Entertainment Center from Sauder. Up until recently we were using it as a buffet near the dining room table, but now that we’re ready to give this room a new purpose, we’ve moved it to the corner, adorned it with our beautiful new tv (Ahhhh!) and starting styling the shelves to fit our new look.
Before: The Buffet
Now: The TV Stand
First up is the style I think will be staying for the majority of the time. Our house is kind of a modern, beachy, soothing theme. So capriz shell picture frames, white candles, natural toned boxes and a few stray starfish are just some of the items you’ll find lurking in the corners of our house. I love that the Edge Water collection from Sauder has a traditional look to it, but it’s still sleek and modern. Which is why I thought I’d try my hand at a more modern, colorful arrangement – full of blues and greens!
The possibilities are endless! We did keep the backing off the entertainment center for right now – but fully intend on adding it here in the next few weeks. I am thinking of lining it with some sea grass wallpaper or something textured to add another personal touch to the piece.
