As I round out my tenure as Pregnant Lady, it was such a joy to discover the adorable creations of Kimberly Farrell, creator and designer at the brand Peanut in My Belly. Her idea sparked after announcing her own pregnancy and grew to include not only these chic, super-soft t-shirts but a line of custom printables that will make your party pop — literally. She also does web and blog design, so definitely check out her site whether you’ve got a peanut in your belly or not.
To get more specific, here’s what I love about my tee. First, I placed the order and it came right away. When you’re hormonal and impatient (and huge) little else will do. So, that was my first win here. Second, the packaging is utterly beautiful. I definitely plan to gift these tees to my preggo friends in the future, immediately upon hearing news of their pending peanuts. Wrapped in paper and tied with twine, featuring an actual peanut (!), this was just such a treat to come home to on a Friday night.
You can tell right away when unwrapping this adorable tee that the quality of the cotton is unparalleled. This might be the softest thing I’ve touched in a very long while, and this Hard Core Nester has been sorting and washing baby clothes for months. Score one for Mommy! In addition to being superbly designed, endlessly adorable, and seriously comfortable, the tee does double-duty. I’ve had mine less than a week and I’ve already worn it for a date night and a yoga class.
When I modeled the tee for my hubby to take some pictures for the review, he insisted I wear it out on the town for our dinner and a movie date! I paired it with the leggings and moto boots you see here, plus a simple black cardigan and of course, plenty of eyeliner. Everywhere we went, preggos and non-preggos alike grabbed me to ask me where I got my cute tee. At my stage in the game, it’s pretty obvious that there’s more of a watermelon in there — but even when you’re still tiny and want to spread the news, this is a great tee to pick up. I also love that even though I’m 39 weeks along (Baby, where are you???) this top fits and flatters my bump flawlessly, unlike a ton of maternity items I had to ditch a couple of weeks ago.
Kimberly has a totally realistic grasp on the modern mama, explaining that we love to share via social media, and create beauty in our everyday lives. I had the honor of interviewing her for my blog, and she shared with me the most insightful thought that I feel is important to pass along to you, my favorite community of mommies:
“If you have an idea, if you have a dream, go for it. I think a lot of us modern mamas are so busy trying to be good moms that we put our dreams on the back burner. But it’s important that we be good moms as well as find ourselves, find who we are outside of motherhood too. And I believe if you have a passion and have a dream, THAT is where you will find yourself.”
