Today’s question: What’s the best advice your mom ever gave you? The best piece of advice my mom ever gave me? GOD WILL NEVER GIVE YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE!
Really? Are you sure? Because often motherhood is less than picture perfect…
And I was so stressed out and overwhelmed and feeling so inadequate for the HUGE job of raising three children facing me… My mom was my rock. Constantly encouraging and assuring me that I was not going to screw up my kids forever if they watched too much tv or if I forgot that it was pajama day at school or someone fell off the swing or whathaveyou. Just constantly saying “You got this!” I SO NEEDED THAT!
That advice was a lifeline! And she is still constantly reminding me as we head into teenagers and all that mess. I rely on her to talk me down from my panic that I’m not doing enough (or am I doing too much? See? There’s no end to my paranoia!) Luckily, I have an amazing mom who was constantly reminding me that I could handle everything life was throwing at me! And now, she’s passing on that advice to my girls…
