Sally Hershberger and her products. Now availableto schlubs like you and me!

Yall know who Sally Hershberger
is, right? I ask because my mother did not, and it made me tired.

Ms. Hershberger is hairdresser
to the stars. She is the one responsible for Meg Ryans shaggy cuts
that everyone and their toast wants. She also did that Jane Fonda shag,
when Jane Fonda finally divorced Ted Turner and came back on the scene.  I do not know why Jane Fonda is kissing my margin in this photo. Perhaps
she is just so happy with her hair that shed kiss anything.

Jane

Sally Hershberger charges $800
to cut your hair. And also? She will not cut your hair if you are nobody.
I know this because I actually called her salon once in Los Angeles
and tried to make an appointment. Do not tell my husband. The salon
was very nice and said that she was booked, but wouldnt I like a
$225 haircut with one of their regular yahoos?

Turns out? Yes. Yes, I would.

So, you can imagine my thrill
this month when Vanity Fair told me that old Sal has a new line
of hair care products, all for sale at less than $20 each, sold exclusively
at Walgreens. The fact that the nearest Walgreens is 30 miles away did
not deter this chic critiquer. I hopped into my Bug on a quest. A hair
quest.

Dont you always hope that
a new product will completely transform your life and you will no longer
have any problems because you bought it? Me too. This did not happen.
But here is my story.

First of all, its not like
Walgreens is screaming from the rooftops that they carry these products.
I mean, Sally Hershberger is the dung. That they are getting her exclusively
is a big deal, if you ask me. But there her stuff was, just sitting
pensively with the other products, first ones on the left. Which I guess
is good product placement, but I was expecting a big introductory display.

Her packaging is not so exciting.
Along the side, vertically, is her name and then a simple description
of the product at hand. The two that interested me were the Shagg
Spray
and the Wreck and Roll Texturizing wax.

I recently cut my hair quite
short, and I was thinking these could give me that messy, man-do-I-ever-spend-my-afternoons-trysting-with-rock-stars
look. The Wreck and Roll Texturizer***** Allergic to it. That doesnt
mean that you will be. I am allergic to fabric softener, detergent for
the dishwasher, and life in general.

So I bought the Shagg Spray
for $12.49. And exciting? When you get home, you can go online to sallyhershberger.com
and put in your UPC code and they will show you a video on how to use
the product. And a note to the Sally Hershberger people? I do not know
that everyone on earth knows what “UPC code ť means. You may want
to navigate people to it on your site.

So, even though it is the middle
of the night, like 8 p.m., I watched the video and sprayed the stuff
on and blew my hair with the dryer, which is how you use it. And guess
what? My hair looks kind of messy and sexy! I think it is the kind of
product I have to play with, but I am pretty sure I will use up the
whole 4.22-ounce bottle. And it is not hairspray, so Im not feelin
all gunky.

Giving the Sally Hershberger
products a fairly big yes.

Comments

  1. I have her anti-frizz concoction and I LOVE it.

  2. I saw those the other day. I was trying to figure out for the life of me why Walgreen’s would be carrying any products at that price point. Interesting.

No Walgreens around here, but you cracked me up with your appointment attempt. That is something I would do. Obviously, they didn’t know what a great blogger you are. You are totally famous!

  4. So here I am at 7am on a saturday morning-doing laundry at that-do not ask me why I am up so early on a Saturday-anyway-waiting for the washer to stop I am reading your post for the day and I also bought the “shag spray” and feel as if I am going to love it as well-after playing around with it-now I did not know about the website and the upc code so I just got up and grabbed my bottle and off to watch the video!! I am addicted to hair products so if they say it would style your hair for you I would probably buy it! I agree give this product line a try!

  5. Did you watch Shear Genius on Bravo? Sally was one of the judges on that show and every week I just really wanted that killer shag cut.

My hair is pretty much all the same length and straight so I’m not sure that I would benefit in any way, shape or form from that stuff…but there’s a Walgreen’s about 1/2 mile from here so you know I’ll be there today to at least look.

  6. Hair Devine Gal says:

The Sally Hershberger products are overrated because of her name. They are very “typical” styling products like any other. The cost for the products are minimal, which is very good, but the product line leaves something to be desired. I choose to stick with the many amazing products I have used for years.
    Save your money!

  7. I thought I was all alone in my addiction to hair prodcuts! It’s “comforting” to know that there are “others” like me out there! Guess where I’m going tomorrow? Walgreens, to get the shag spray!!!

  8. Oops, I misspelled “products”!
