I remember the day well. I had just met Eduardo for the first time and was a little nervous. His spiky purple hair and the leather tool belt around his waist did not instill the type of confidence one wants in a hairdresser. I sat in his chair and silently prayed he would not turn my hair any shade of violet.
Oh, but first impressions can sometimes be so wrong, can’t they?
He was the stylist who first introduced me to the wonder that is the Bumble & Bumble product line, and I’ve been eternally grateful to him ever since. You see, I have the misfortune to own schizophrenic hair. The bottom back layers of my hair are tight, natural curls; while the top half of my head is straight as a board. This prevents me from actually wearing my hair curly, and requires a lot of product and heating equipment to get the naughty layers on the bottom to lie flat.
Living in a city with year-round humidity does not make this an easy task.
Bumble & Bumble’s Straight is the reason I have not cut all my hair off in a frenzied fit of crazy like some starlets we know. After towel-drying my wet hair, I rub a little bit of this perfect elixir in my palms, then lightly run it through my hair.
I do still have to perform the ritualistic blow dry and flat iron, but my hair is much more willing to submit, and a lot less damaged than with other products I’ve tried in the past. It has never made my hair feel greasy, and does not dry it out. It adds a natural shine and makes my ends smooth, all while helping to straighten out the curls. It smells sweet, but not in a toxic-floral-old-lady-smell-kind of way.
It is worth its weight in gold, and I’m sorry to say, probably does cost almost as much. I have never found a product as effective as Bumble & Bumble Straight.
I have no doubt it one day could bring about world peace.
It’s just that good.

I have created schizophrenic hair by straightening it every single day. It has changed textures and looks AWFUL curly, but still requires a blow dryer and flat iron. I am going to go buy some Bumble & Bumble now.
Christie, you KNOW I’d follow you anywhere! Anything that can stand up to midwestern humidity must be proclaimed from the rooftops…or this cute blog!
ooh yes, b+b is the best. great minds think alike! unfortunately i have rather straight stick hair myself, so the hair powder, surf spray and ‘does it all’ hairspray are my faves. the ‘tonic’ spray is another favorite for the pepperminty smell.
great review. christie truly has thee best hair.
Stie…I covet your hair!! You know I have the exact opposite of hair problems. But I am so happy that you have found a product THAT good. Good hair=good life.
