Guest Blogger: Michelle on LashBlast Mascara

Michelle is a stay-at-home mom who spends her days changing diapers,

When it comes to mascara, I am a Lancome girl, all the way.
I’m a huge fan of Lancome’s Definicils mascara.  It is the
best, bar none.  It lengthens and doesn’t clump.  It never gets
sticky, even after applying a few coats.  It is one of the most natural looking
products out there.

But.  I have young children.  This can pose a bit of a problem
for Lancome-loving girls like myself.  Let me break it down for you:

3 kids under six

3 cases of pinkeye

1 pinkeye infection for mom

1 Lancome mascara in the trash

1 new Lancome mascara purchased

1 more pinkeye infection for mom

2 total Lancome mascaras in the trash

1 very perplexed husband who questions why we’re spending $50 on mascara in a one-month time span

Need I say more?  My friends, there is a season for everything.
The season for me spending $25 on a tube of mascara is not in the foreseeable
future.  The problem is, I never have much luck with drugstore
mascara.  I don’t care what the tube promises, the results for me
have always been the same.  It clumps.  It’s sticky.  I
look like I have tarantula legs sprouting from my eyes.

So, I did some research.  Turns out, people are buzzing about the
latest mascara from CoverGirl –- LashBlast

I picked up the non-waterproof
version. The package claims:

“The biggest brush EVER from CoverGirl ,
for a blast of lush, volumized lashes!  LashBlast’s patented
volume-boosting formula and patent-pending brush is designed to max out each
and every lash leaving you with the ultimate big lash look.”

Well, color me impressed — a mascara that actually delivers on its
promises!  I think the secret really is in the brush.  It has
shorter, rubberized bristles that make for clump-free application.  Better
yet, when you wait a few seconds and apply a second coat, your lashes
aren’t sticky.  They stay separated and look incredibly
natural.  There’s no flaking or smudging, either.  In fact, if
I imagine a slim black tube in my hand instead of the bright orange one, I
could be fooled into thinking that I’m using a particular Lancome
product.

And for a third of the Lancome price, I’ll keep pretending.

  1. I’ve been using this mascara since I first discovered it at Target a few months ago. I love it!

  2. Oh boy! I’ll give it a try!

  3. Whoo-hoo! Looking for something that works as well as all that in a drugstore mascara. I will be trying this one real soon. Thanks for the research!

  4. Okayk, so I was in need of mascara. I had a coupon, it was on sale and my 14 year old neice (who I think shouldn’t be wearing it anyway) loves it. So, I am giving it a try. So far so good.

  5. i’m heading out to my local drugstore now! i needed something to replace my current dying lacome mascara too!

  6. I went to Walgreens not remembering what it was called but that it was in an orange tube. I couldn’t find it. I found Lash Exact… close enough right? The brush looked the same. I thought maybe the colors on my computer were messd up, because red could easily be confused for orange.

I came home and tried it and HATED it. Surely, I must’ve bought the wrong stuff right?

I did. I went to a different drug store and found it and LOVE it. I can’t compare it to the pricey stuff because the only pricey mascara I’ve ever bought (over $10) was Mac and it SUCKED.

    so I like it…
    thanks for the GREAT recommendation….

  7. Excellent…I’m always looking for the perfect mascara…could it be that I’ve finally found it. I’m stopping after work (yes, yes, I’m blog surfing from work-don’t tell 😀 ) and picking up a tube. Thanks so much!

  8. I’ve used it for a while now and have been really impressed. It’s even great when I’m doing my morning “holy cow I’m soooo stinkin’ late” routine! I usually buy a different mascara every time I run out of my current one, but I think that this might be a keeper.

Um, hope those pinkeye infections have come to an end. Those aren’t fun for anybody, I’d imagine!

  9. I just went out to get it this weekend and it is awesome! It definitely sperates the lashes really well (and I have short Asian eyelashes!) It is now going to be my staple for sure. My hubby will be happy to know I won’t have to go buy the Dior diorshow mascara that costs an arm and leg!
