Two Tan Faces

That June. I knew all the good stuff about Jergens was gonna get said before we had a chance to talk about it. What else do you people need to know about Jergens? It works. It won’t turn you orange (unless you don’t wash your hands for like, ever) and it kind of stinks. But it’s cheap. Or, as The Nester would say "Cheep".  Yes, I would say cheep.  I am writing in pink so we can write this post together.  Look — it looks like I am Jesus and you are just a regular person.

Hey Nester… remember when we used to lay out in the back yard with that shiny baby oil? Didn’t you always cover your face with your t-shirt? I never understood that. It’s too hot under that t-shirt: no room for breathing. Besides, the face is the best part to have tan! I remember leaning back on my elbows with my eyes closed, face tilted sun-ward just so my face could be that much closer to the rays. SPF was my enemy. The sun, my friend.

Gosh, yes, I remember.  I don’t think I did it to save my face.  I think my face felt like it was on fire so I had to do something.  My skin has always been so white compared to yours!

True…that’s just because you kept it covered. It makes me shudder just thinking about my past sun addiction. But ever since mom showed me those sun spots she got on the left side of her face just from driving, I’ve been a little sun-shy. Especially when it comes to that delicate face skin. You actually believed that?  I always thought she was happy of that coincidence so she could scare us into using sunscreen!

Someone mentioned in the comments section of June’s post about the Jergens face stuff. I never knew they had a fake tan just for the face, but when I noticed The Nester’s healthy glow last winter {smiling}, I had to ask her about it. Sure enough, she had been using Jergens Natural Glow Face Daily Moisturizer just for the face.

I admit, the first time I used it, I thought it would be a brown lotion. It isn’t. I have the one designed for medium skin tones but they have lots of different shades. And the lotion is white, for the record. I always think I notice a difference right away, but it’s probably just the power of suggestion. I don’t have any technical advice on how to apply it. All I can say is it’s pretty cheap and it works for me! So give it a try.

I have to say that now, I use L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Lotion for Face and Body.  It’s SPF 15 and streak free.  I switched because it has no odor and is very moisterizy.  I wear it everyday under my foundation and I love it.  I do sometimes feel like my pores are filled with this lotion.  When I used my boy’s Eyeclops where you can magnify things and look at them on TV, my face did look like an orange and purple desert.  I still use it and figure if anyone can see that close on my face they are a mosquito and I don’t care about them anyway.

You should post a photo of your orange and purple desert face. I’m sure L’Oreal would pay you the big bucks for the advertisement.  Yes, that would be quite entertaining.  I did try to take a photo once of the TV while eye-clopsing–it didn’t turn out.  Well, we have gotten way from the point of this entire post.  Face Tanners = Good.  Now, I’m off to go call my sister and laugh together!

  1. OK…I haven’t even read the whole artilcle yet. I am still crying tears of laughter after reading “It looks like I’m Jesus and you are just a regular person.” I don’t even care if I learn anything about Jergens now…that made my afternoon so bright!

  2. Bless you, Mrs. Byers.

  3. I used to used to use Jergens until I discovered Olay Energy Glow for the body. It doesn’t smell bad and I feel like it is a better moisturizer.

  4. chickadee says:

where’s the picture? was i duped? i assumed i’d see your two tanned faces in this post.

  5. Ok, Nester! You need to stop yourself girl. You are EVERYWHERE. Just like Jesus.

    🙂

    Love ya,
    “A stalker”

  6. Yep I was laughing also at the “it looks like I am Jesus and you are just a regular person” comment.

I did learn that I need to go and get some of that moisturizer though.

  7. Ditto with the “Jesus/regular person” comment- hilarious!!

I haven’t tried the Jergans or the Loreal- I’m pasty white though so I’ll have to give it a try.

  8. You two are hilarious! Here’s what I want to know…have they found a link yet between self-tanners and cancer? Because it seems like everything that comes out these days somehow gives one cancer. That’s the main thing that keeps me from wanting to do any sort of tanning (sun, bed, self…etc.).

  9. I want to come have a day with you girls!

Minnesotamom- don’t you love the commercials that say that some people may experience falling asleep suddenly while driving and other side effects. Um, how many took that and are driving?

Back to the sisters, I am glad to find out about the non stinky face make me look betters. I hate that smell especially on your face where your nose is.
