Free to be Acne Free

I know I have complained about this before, because I complain about everything, and really, I am one of those people who should be shown people with real problems and then slapped silly.

Nevertheless, this is Chic Critique, and if I can’t complain about my beauty issues here, where can I?

I am 42 and three-quarters old, and I still break out. I really thought it would magically stop at 30. I was wrong. I also thought I would gain some sort of mystical serenity and maturity at 30, and you can see where that got me.

I have spent a fortune on skin-clearing beauty products and in-the-doctor’s-office treatments, and also on therapy to figure out why I’m not serene and mature. None has garnered me much.

So, recently I was watching the TV, because that’s what we do in America, and there was an ad for Acne Free products. It’s a three-step treatment that promises to be more effective than ProActiv, which is what Jessica Simpson likes along with John Mayer, and she was certainly right about John Mayer.

I am sorry to be a cougar, but he is hot.

I blew off the ad, but then I was in Wal-Mart, because that’s where we go in America, and there were the Acne Free products right there for sale.

Acne

"Better than ProActiv," I thought. That selling point really stuck with me, even though I have no idea if ProActiv really works. I just feel like it must because of John Mayer.

I told myself I’d try the Acne Free treatment if it sold for less than $25, and do you know it was $19.95? Which is a sneaky way of saying twenty bucks.

And you guys. It has been three weeks and I am VERY PLEASED with the results. Seriously!

The first week I kept catching glimpses of myself in John Mayer’s bathroom, and I’d say, gee, I look kind of good. It took me awhile to realize I was looking sort of clear-skinned.

Then, seriously, I did not break out at ALL until this past weekend, which for me is really good. And when I felt a breakout coming, I put the "fast-working medicine" part on and it is clearing up without becoming a real breakout!

The three steps are: cleanser, toner and repair lotion. The active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide, and I was all, aren’t I just kind of putting Clearisil on and washing with Clearasil and toning with Clearasil?

Well, maybe I am, as Johnny Cash would say, but so what? It appears to be working. It also has Retinol, whatever that is. Maybe Retinol is the secret. Isn’t that what’s in Certs? No. Certs has Retsin. Whatever THAT is.

So, your good pal June CLEARLY recommends (get it?) Acne Free Clear Skin Treatments, found on amazon.com or at the Wal-Mart. Where America shops for clear skin, even though Wal-Mart is evil.

  1. I still get zits every so often TOO, what’s up with THAT?

I use Mary Kay’s Blemish Control toner and Dr Perricone’s cleanser, both have salicylic acid (I swear I should just apply the acid and skip the rest *sigh*).

  2. I also thought that bad skin would stop at 30 but it didn’t. I have to thank you tons, though. I got that book you recommended awhile ago, took all of the quizzes, bought all of the stuff recommended and I haven’t had any break outs since. Well, just one that appeared yesterday but thats amazing for me. I’ll keep this in mind if all the other stuff I am using fails me.

  3. Thank goodness. I’m not alone. :o/

I’m 39 and have been hoping and praying for the last 20 years this was going to end soon. No such luck. I used Proactiv for about a year. It works. For awhile. I actually used the “extra-strength” version. I was tired of bleach spots on my clothes, bathroom rug and towels from the high concentration of peroxide in that product. No matter how careful you are- and unless you stand naked in the shower- you are going to get a drop of that stuff where it doesn’t belong eventually.

I saw AcneFree on clearance at TJ Maxx for $5 on Monday. I didn’t take that as a good sign. lol I’m glad it works, though!

I take prescription medicine. It’s the only thing that continues to work. Unfortunately.

  4. Okay – June

I’ll give it a try, but I need to know…
does it leave little bleach spots everywhere? I used a benzoyl peroxide things before and it bleached out my pillow case and comforter! I was soooo bummed!
I just bought a new duvet set and I don’t want to ruin it!!

  5. Girly,
I have never had any sort of peroxide trouble with this product. I didn’t even know such a thing existed! How dreadful.

  6. Best Acne Skin Care says:

    Side of Bread for Acne

Yes, people should well aware of this fact, it is true that eating bread and white foods may cause acne, as if you take example of some folk people then they have acne but they don’t have so much acne problem as the people who are eating white foods. So it is totally side effect of bread for acne.
