Guest Blogger: Jennifer on Ped Egg

Here is one reader’s experience with the Ped Egg.  Jennifer blogs at Family Musings.

Ped
I
have always been a sucker for infomercials. I have about a 75% success
rate too. Through infomercials I discovered Bare Minerals and Space
Bags. Of course, I also discovered a car wash kit that left a waxy film
all over my husband’s truck! So, when I saw the Ped Egg commercial, I gave some serious thought to ordering it. Only, the shipping charges stopped me. It didn’t make
sense to pay as much for shipping as I did for the actual item being shipped.

A few weeks later when I saw the Ped Egg
at my neighborhood drug store, I decided to give it a try. After
wrestling with the packaging, I sat right down in front of the TV and
started grating the dry skin off of my feet. Immediately, I liked the egg-like
shape of it because it was easy to use, just like the infomercial said
it would be. I did have to be careful, though, to keep the grate facing
up, otherwise the contents of the egg might spill out through the tiny holes.

Speaking
of the contents… I was totally grossed out by watching the
infomercial lady’s foot debris fall into the trash can. But not my own.
It was fascinating in a weird, "gee, that’s what it looks like up close
up," sort of way. (Is that TMI?)

When I visited the Red Door
Salon in New York City several years ago, I learned that exfoliating is
only going to be useful in the long term if you moisturize well when you
are done. I use the Body Shop’s Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion and then put socks on my feet. This helps the new skin stay fresh and prevents new calluses from forming.

At an average retail price of $10, the Ped Egg
is now a regular part of my beauty routine because it is so easy to use
and I can watch TV while I do it instead of precariously perching on
the edge of the bathtub. I don’t use it daily now, just a couple of
times a week to touch my feet up and keep the summer sandal-ready.
Because who wears pantyhose these days?!

  1. Love the Ped Egg! I’m was so worried about over-doing it and ending up with raw feet initially, but as long as I go slow and stop before I really want to, it’s fine. Great product, and great advice on the lotion/socks afterwards!

  2. Moon Baby says:

Wow, I can’t wait to try this. I now have something to add to my shopping list. I wonder if I’ll enjoy seeing the debris as much as you did.

  3. Saw an ad on the Walgreens reader board for this and hadn’t the foggiest idea what it as. Thanks for clearing up the mystery.

Mary, who loves to go barefoot and could certainly use the thing

  4. Saw this on the telly once and sooooo wanted to get it, but I’m just not a TV shopper. So, still been scrubbin with my nail files till they literally fall apart. Gonna have to go out and get me one a these!

  5. I love the PedEgg. I too just did a review on this fabulous little find, and let me tell you, I will never be with out it! It is the best addition to my foot snob collection!

  6. I love my pedEgg too. When I first saw the infomercial, I laughed at it, but it really works!

  7. Thanks for the wonderful comments. And for not pointing out how weird I might be for finding satisfaction in watching all of my dead skin disappear!

  8. I just tried it last night and was very impressed by everything it got off my foot. I’ll have to add lotion to the routine too.

  9. I just got one yesterday and tried it. I figured out the hard way to keep the ped egg sunny side up. Blech.

  10. I bought one last week and started that night to sand off the top layer of my alligator skin! I overdid it in a spot and it got sore but I have learned my lesson! Great idea about the lotion afterwards!
