Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion

Hormonally-induced insanity made me do it.

In the first few bleary days after my son was born, I may have over-reacted to a certain loving, harmless gesture by my husband.  I can admit that now.  But at the time, his near constant attempts to brush my bangs away from my eyes seemed a good reason to get after them with my trusty bathroom scissors.

I wish to goodness I’d been a little less hasty in my response, because here we are a month later and I still have the short, blunt fringe of a twelve-year old, which Audrey Hepburn carried off with pizazz in her day, being the fashion and beauty icon she was, but that makes ME look like a really, really tired and run down, well, twelve years old.

So I did what any self-respecting twelve-year-old would do in my place.  I threw a mighty crying tantrum that’d make you think the world was coming to an end, locked myself in my room, and played the same two David Cassidy albums over and over at eardrum-rending volumes while I cried on the phone to my girlfriends.  Wait, no, that’s not what I did.  I did what any self-respecting FORTY-year-old would do in my place.  I threw money at it.

I went and had the rest of my hair cut short and sassy to go with my bangs.  Then on the recommendation from someone in InStyle Magazine, I headed over to Bumbleandbumble.com and bought some of their highly touted Styling Lotion, and did as the directions directed me to.  I saturated my towel-dried hair with a goodly dousing, combed it through, and styled as usual.  Was it the magic elixir my bangs needed to look less ridiculously short?

Nah.

But I did like what the product did for my new short do.  You know how when YOU style your hair with a round brush, you sometimes have to struggle and pull and start over to get the brush through each section of hair smoothly and easily?  But how when your stylist does it, the hair slides through the brush like butter and falls against your head all soft and shiny and fresh and flippy?  And you wish like heck you could get that look and feel when you do your own hair but have resigned yourself to only having it the day or two after you have your hair done?

Well guess what?

Your day has come.  Because Bumble and Bumbles Styling Lotion?  Is your favorite stylist in a spray bottle.  I still have some time to wait before I get my bangs back right again (hence I’m not posting a before/after picture), BUT, I do have hair that’s shiny, soft, and follows my brush into a gentle, flippy bend and stays there, without looking or feeling all dull and crusty.  And the product IS expensive at $23, but you don’t have to use much of it per application, so my 8 oz. bottle will likely last me for a good long while.

It can’t undo a bad cut, but it CAN make your current pretty-decent cut look like a million bucks.  Every day.

  1. Omigosh I’m SO going out and buying this stuff today. My hair needs help.

  2. Oh. And it’s nice to have you back!! :=)

  3. Welcome back! I wonder if this would help my hair – it needs help!

  4. $23 a bottle is heaven compared to the overpriced stuff I’ve been buying lately. I did the major cut and blond to brunette about a month ago. Love the color but a little lost on the styling. I just want to do something a little different each day…besides the helmet look!

  5. I love this stuff!

  6. Ouch $23 on me? For my hair? Can I pretend it’s for one of the kiddos?

  7. Girl, you should try the Thickening Spray! And the Defrizz. And the Tonic.

I would drink the Bumble Bumble if I could!

  8. One of my short-haired friends SWEARS by that stuff!
