Guest Blogger Beth for Boots

I can remember, many years ago, sitting with my older sisters at a restaurant.  We came along the topic of face washing practices.  At that time, I had no children and I religiously washed my face, no matter how sick or drunk I was…my face was always clean when I went to bed each night.

Both of my sisters were moms to three children and they both said they did not wash their face nightly but then again, I didn’t have three kids and when I did have kids, I would not be so diligent about washing my face, they said.  Ha!

Well I showed them.  When I had two kids, born 360 days apart I still washed my face!  Every week.  Or so.  Oh wait.  I guess they were right.

BUSTED.

It wasn’t until last year that I admitted my lack of facial hygiene publically on my blog.

But I’m too tired!

Clinique is too expensive!

Good reasons to not wash my face, right?  Except not.  Washing your face nightly is very important for proper skin care, so why did I stop doing it again?

Too tired!

Too expensive!

I already said that.  So, I asked my readers “how often do you wash your face?”  Many of them were on the same dirty face boat I was on, but there were others who said “step away from your computer and go wash your face, right now, especially since you insist on wearing make-up every single day, you disgusting girl, you.”

So I did just that.  Ever since that post, I have washed my face every single night.  It took awhile for that practice to become a habit of mine, but it did and now I can’t imagine not washing my face.  Now I wasn’t  so tired any more when it came to my nightly washings, but the price tag of good skin care always hurt.  It was difficult to explain to my husband why I had to spend so much, saying “but honey, don’t you always want me to look this ravishing?” just didn’t work anymore, especially with a large mortgage,  two car payments and me asking in a graphic tee and yoga pants.  Good skin care, like pedicures, took a back seat.

Where they sat, all alone, holding hands forever.

I made it my mission to find a solution that I could be happy with, one that not only worked, but was also CHEAP.  I’m not going to sit here and tell you the ones that did not work for me, because all of them made my face feel clean, what mattered to me were the ones that made my face feel good, each morning.

I’m extra happy to tell you that you can buy it at Target!  I KNOW!  Could there be a better place to carry this extra-cheap, extra-awesome skin care line?  NOPE!  “honey, I would love to sit and watch football with you right now, but I must go out and get my EXTRA-CHEAP skin care system.”  (AT TARGET!)

What’s the product?  Boots Botanics Skin Care at Target.  Inexpensive, all natural with a price range of anywhere between $6.99 – $21.99.

I have used and loved the Intensive Moisture Mask (with honey), the Soothing Eye Make Up Remover (with Iceland moss), the Skin Brightening Toner (with equisetum extract and fruit acids), the Moisturizing Night Cream (with Murumuru wha? Butter), and the facial cleansing wipes.

I paid the same price for all of these items put together  that I did, not that long ago, for one moisturizer at Sephora.

Just sayin’.

I’m not trying to imply that the More Expensive Products aren’t fantastic, because they are.  If you can fit them in your budget.   But if you can’t, check out Target.

Boots also offers two other skin care lines, both to fit your budget and other facial needs, along with body care, all at Target.

Here’s to a clear face and saving money to spend on shoes.

For your kids.

I use one of two things to wash my face:

    Baby Wipes or
    Baby Bath

The wipes are good ‘cuz I can keep them in the drawer next to the sink and I don’t have to flood the bathroom in order to have clean skin. I use the baby bath in the shower.

Both are really gentle on my face. After I wash with the baby wipes I give my face a quick once over with witch hazel.

Don’t know if this is a recommended method but it works for me. Now if I could just remember to do it every night.

  2. Are there Target stores in Canada? I don’t think there are any here…affiliate stores anyone??? Help a sister out…my cleanser sets me back $30 a pop:( Ouch.

  3. I became fully-invested in you with that face-washing post. It kept me up nights, worrying. I’m so glad you’ve rehabilitated yourself and are keeping that pretty face of yours all clean and hydrated and happy now. I’ll take a look at those products – I love what I use now but I’m always open to new, better ideas.

  4. I’m glad you found a good skincare solution. I’m still hunting for something that will get rid of these annoying pimples. Who would have thought I would still be getting pimples at age 33. 🙁
