Last week I put up a poll asking what you think of the silver/gray eyeshadow trend that is hitting the run ways and showing up in catalogs everywhere. With 95 votes cast it looks like silver eyes are a hit for fall. The final results are as follows:
33 -think the look is great.
27 – are willing to give it a try.
14 – the grays are nice enough but not for themselves.
26 – thumbs down.
That gives the Shades of Gray Eyeshadow trend a 60% approval rate.
I like using bright silver shadow as a liner or lightly brushed across my lower lid but I won’t be going for the gray smokey eye or covering my entire eye with silver. I don’t need any extra help to look like a raccoon.
In fact, I go out of my way to get rid of the dark circles beneath my eyes. Right now I have a sinus cold so those purple shadows below my eyes are showing a little more than usual. But a cold is not a good enough reason to take a sick day from work. It is days like this when I pull out the under-eye corrector and put on my game face. Just because I feel like something the cat dragged in doesn’t mean I have to look like that too.
The best product I have found to make me look bright-eyed is being discontinued but I’m going to tell you about it anyway (I never want to look bushy tailed unless I’m going to a costume party). L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer in the Neutralizer shade.
To apply it I put a little bit on my concealer brush and smooth it on my skin under my eye from corner to corner. I smooth it out until I get a light even layer of yellow that barely masks those dark circles. Then I apply my mineral foundation powder over top to finish hiding those shadows.
I have also used this magical cream on my mom and it does wonders at hiding those lines and wrinkles that form around your eyes.
I haven’t asked L’Oreal if the Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer is being discontinued but I can’t find it on their web site or any online store. However I have seen it at Target and K-Mart for around $9 (US). Now go and find a tube of your own before they are all gone.
