As I was reading Michelle’s post yesterday I couldn’t believe my eyes. She used to equate Rimmel with Wet n’ Wild? Hadn’t even given it a try until just recently? I started to wonder how many others have not tried this wonderful, inexpensive brand of makeup.
Today I am here to further dispel any misconceptions that you may
have had about Rimmel. They have something for everyone. Now, the products are not the top of the line like Mac or Smashbox but they also do not have a high-end price tag. It is a big mistake to think that Rimmel should only be used by
girls just getting their feet wet in the adventure that is putting on
makeup and discovering what colors work with their skin tone and eyes.
If tried my first Rimmel product as soon as they arrived at my local Wal-Mart
years ago. Since then two of their products have become a
staple in my everyday beauty arsenal.

First is Wear Maxx Nail Polish. They’ve got a fabulous selection of beautiful and trendy colors that last forever. This stuff is made with LYCRA ®, the same material that makes your swimsuit, pantyhose and pretty much anything Spandex. It is the material that makes your clothing fit perfectly to your body and I love it on my nails as much as having it in my undergarments.
I’ve had this polish last on my fingers without chipping for up to a week. That’s some serious lasting power.

Second is the Vinyl Gloss Lipgloss. I prefer lip gloss to lipstick for my everyday look. Lipstick
is a little too much, too formal for the lab or the grocery store. Instead I save my lipstick
for special occasions.
A good lipgloss can be the perfect touch for
looking put together while maintaining a more casual air. For
that I rely on my $4 tubes of Vinyl Gloss. At that price I can afford to have more than just one color (my other favorite gloss runs a whopping $18 per tube).
The name of this product also gives you a hint at just how glossy it
is. You cannot beat the shine. It’s like coating your lips with
liquid patent leather. The shine and the thicker texture of this gloss helps to
smooth out the texture of your lips making them look fuller. Not quite
the effect of a good lip plumper but this stuff doesn’t bite
back with the sting of the good plumpers either.

The only downside is that it is a basic gloss and not one of those
long-wear apply it and forget about it for the next 8 hours. It will
leave its tale-tell mark on your coffee cup or your man and needs to be reapplied
two or three times throughout the day.
With the financial crunch many of us are facing this may be a good
time to try out some brands you may have previously passed by. I’d
love to know if there are any other hidden gems out there in the beauty
world that are fabulous for a fraction of the price. Any
recommendations?

Great ideas! I’ll have to check out that vinyl lipgloss. Very cool.
Thank you for your blog. I enjoy it very much. I will give the rimmel products a try. I am anxious to try the fingernail polish! I get so tired of the polishes that say they don’t chip but do!
I am so glad you wrote about your favorite Rimmel products — because after your comment yesterday, I was going to ask you what you recommended! You beat me to the punch! Can’t wait to try the lipgloss (I’m an addict) and a nailpolish that doesn’t chip within a day of applying it? Count me in!
Love your blog! I’m not into spending a lot on makeup, so I love Rimmel. I just got their tinted primer. It’s a big tube for $5, and I love it. I sometimes wear it alone when I’m in a rush to get out of the house. It gives my skin a clean, smooth look.
I bought some of their mascara at Big Lots recently because of the brush. It’s the best mascara I’ve ever had — no kidding. I’m sold.
I use Rimmel eye shadow a lot and love it. You can even wet the brush a bit to get stronger colors.
Oh, I remember now reading Paula Beagon’s (sp?) Don’t Go To The Make-up Counter Without Me ~ I think Rimmel is the new name for the old company called Coty. Remember them? I believe Rimmel is only available at Walmart ~ they are the only ones who can sell it.
I can attest to the fabulous-ness of the Vinyl Gloss! I especially love the clear, which is great for layering over some of my lip liners. More options = more economical!
