In her book "get positively beautiful", Carmindy advises using neutral shadows with blue eyeliner. She also suggests trying shades of forest and emerald green. Last week Jo-Lynne tried to make her brown eyes pop by using a sapphire blue eye liner (click here to see the results). That left me the chance to see if green would make a difference on my peepers.
I dug through my makeup bag and did a little shopping. With a few new colors and my standby brown liner I was ready to experiment. I figured that the best way to determine if green was better than my ‘usual’ was to do a side-by-side comparison. With my bareMinerals liner shadow in hand I applied coffee bean around one eye, then lined the other in black emerald.
The brown-lined eye looks nice, but the other one? I believe that Carmindy is on to something. The emerald green compliments my eye color so nicely. The look is a little brighter and pops a bit more.
After playing around with a few more colors and shades of green I think I found my favorite new everyday look:
For this I swiped a little of my blush (bareMinerals All Over Face Color in warmth) over my eyelid and then applied my new favorite eye pencil (The Body Shop in cactus green) along my upper and lower lash line. I have received at least one compliment every day that I wore this look to work this week.
What do you think? Am I imagining things or should I keep the green liners in my makeup bag to help my ordinary brown eyes look more extraordinary?

The green looks awesome. I prefer to wear colored eyeliner. I usually end up wearing purple.. I think it works so much better then brown. It’s been a long time since I had green liner (it used to be my color of choice so I tired of it), but I think I will go out and get some tonight when I go shopping. BTW – brown eyes aren’t ordinary – just under appreciated 🙂
hey…
i vote for your blog on bloggers choice award…
success for you!
Ok, I finally have to ask… what colors does she suggest for blue eyes? Because the opposite of blue is orange and yeee-uck! That can’t be right. So please, what does she suggest for blue eyes? 🙂
