The Green Eyed Girl

In our recent post, The Eyes Have It!, Jo-Lynne shows the recommended eye treatment for her brown eyes, as suggested in Carmindy’s latest book get positively beautiful.

My eyes are green, and since Carmindy says that opposites attract, I am told to "try eyeliners or shadows in eggplant, purple, burgundy, lavender, or amethyst."

I used to always use forest greens which I felt brought out the green in my eyes. Carmindy does suggest this color for hazel eyes. I then switched to brown which I like. Below the first picture is my more recent brown favorites, followed by the green and then tonight’s purple. Unfortunately, I don’t have a great camera so it is hard to see the colors. While I like the purple, I think I am still stuck on my brown phase.

BUT, after looking at these pictures, I am thinking she might have a point or maybe it was the lighting or the mood I was in when the picture was taken.

First picture (brown eyeshadow and liner) — leaving for New York at 5 AM.

Second picture (green eye treatment) — going to teach crafts at the YMCA.

Third picture (purple shadow) — leaving for my 14th anniversary dinner.

Hmm, what do you think?

  1. I also have green eyes. I had my make-up done once by a professional and she put a light shimmery almond color (called satin) all over my eye lid top and bottom and then in the crease of the eye she put plum eye shadow. she applied more plum from the outside corner crease to the lash line and then lined my eye with “plum” eyeliner (from corner to corner on top and outside corner smudged in to the middle of the eye on the bottom). Let me just tell you that I have never had so many compliments on my eyes. I’m like you and I switch it up with brown here and there but I never hear anything about my eyes unless I’m wearing the purple combo. Pretty interesting and with only 2 colors of shadow and an eyeliner it takes only minutes to do my eye make-up. Nice!

  5. I like the purple on you! I think it makes the whites of your eyes really stand out. The brown would be my second choice.

  6. Carmindy is right.

I have green eyes and wear purple a lot. With brown as a close second.

  7. I do lots of plums on my green eyes. My new favorite is a brown liquid liner, but I want to look if it comes in plum. I think it does make the eyes pop more.
