You know how with some products, you know instantly you’re gonna like them? That’s how it was when I heard from Nina, the creator of Softress — a unique line of moisturizers from whole, food-grade oils and a synergistic blend of antioxidant vitamin C and natural vitamin E, which is up to 10 times stronger than either vitamin alone.
The oils in SoftHands–including a full 8% macadamia oil as opposed to the 1% sold in the drugstore lotions–are absorbed by your skin, protecting against water loss and helping to keep it healthy. Nina told me I’d feel the difference the first time I tried it, and I did. Unlike traditional lotions that are mostly water, SoftHands is all oil, and when you apply a small squirt to damp hands, you create an emulsion that soaks into your hands and keeps them soft and supple. With the onset of cold weather, my hands usually take a beating, but so far this winter, they are soft and smooth.

In addition to SoftHands, the line includes E-Blend, for care of Eczema and extremely dry skin, Deep Moisture, for 2-in-1 sensitive skin and dry hair care; Love Your Hair, a natural conditioner/detangler for dry, curly and color-treated hair; and SoftBaby, for soothing baby dry skin and infant Eczema. All products except SoftHands are nut oil-free.
I have actually taken to applying the E-Blend to my face at night because I get so dry, and it’s working great. I emailed Nina to ask if that’s okay, and she informed me that she’s coming out with a new formulation for the face. YAHOO!
Softress products are packaged in 2 oz. and 6.5 oz. food-safe, re-usable/recyclable aluminum containers. Locking sprayheads prevent spills. And because it uses just a few drops per application, even the 2-ounce size will last for months. It’s priced at $15.50 for the 2 oz. and $29.50 for the 6.5 oz. size. Softress products are available at Softress.com and Amazon.com.
**UPDATE: January 2009 — Over Christmas my 6-year-old daughter had a bout with scarlet fever in which the resulting rash either mimicked or caused a flare-up of Eczema. Her skin is always very rough and dry but it was actually irritated to the point of being raw after the rash from the scarlet fever went away. I grabbed my trusty tube of Eucerin which usually does the trick, and when I went to apply, she started to cry and complain of it burning her skin. I was horrified and immediately started looking through my bathroom cabinet to find something else to sooth her irritated skin. I came across my one last bottle of Softress. It happened to be SoftBaby. I applied it to her skin that night, and the next morning there was a marked improvement. I applied more that morning and the following evening, and by then (24 hours later) her skin was almost entirely healed and beyond that, it was beginning to feel soft to the touch (virtually unheard of for her skin in the wintertime.)
The best thing about Softress (besides the fact that it cured my child’s Eczema flareup practically overnight) is that it isn’t sticky and cold like a lotion. The oil sinks into the skin and isn’t greasy, oily, or sticky at all. I used the remainder of my SoftHands and have set out to order another bottle right away.
I also want to mention that I had written previously that my samples of Softress had not lasted very long. Come to find out, they were not full bottles. The sample bottles are only filled 1/3 of the way. So I take back my comment about them running out quickly. I’m still ordering the 6 oz bottle, however, because it’s a better value and I know I will use it up! Eventually! 🙂

I’m so excited to here about this product! I have extreme allergies to fragrance and chemicals and have had a hard time finding a product I could use. I look forward to giving this a try.
My 21yo daughter was just telling me this morning how out of control her eczema is right now on her hands and feet! I’m sending her this link!!
Thanks!!
