How to use makeup to help you look younger

Take the focus away from your mouth. Often times overly bright or dark colors cause the eye to focus on sagging skin around the jawline. These tips will help make that less noticeable:

  • Make your eyes the most interesting part of your face. You don’t need a lot of eye makeup, it can be as simple as curling your eyelashes and applying mascara.
  • Neutralize the color of your lips by using beige or nude lip color that is similar or slightly lighter than your natural lip color.

For dryer skin or a discolored complexion use a loose mineral powder to help make them less noticeable. Minerals provide a lot of coverage, yet reflect light and will help you look more youthful and give you a dewier appearance.

Less is more. Don’t try to hide fine lines and wrinkles by applying a lot of makeup. It will just emphasize them.

Same with age spots, don’t try to cover up every single one. Instead apply a foundation or tinted moisturizer to help make them stand out less.

Don’t use a magnifying mirror to apply makeup. No one else looks at you that closely and you risk seeing every little imperfection and applying makeup only to draw more attention to it.

Exfoliate your skin regularly. It will be smoother, more light reflective and give it a youthful glow. It helps makeup go on more easily and look more natural.
