Protect your hair from the heat

Do you use heat to style your hair? A hair dryer? Curling iron? Straightening iron?

I’m willing to bet the answer is yes.

Do you use protection?

If you are subjecting your hair to high heat then you need to be using something to protect it. The heat of a dryer or iron can cause major damage to your hair. Anything over 100 ° F/38 ° Celsius will start to crack the cuticle leaving your hair dry, frizzy and more prone to breaking and split ends.

Luckily there are plenty of thermal protection products on the market today to come to our heat-styling aid. For the past 6 months I have been using products from the TRESemmé Thermal Creations line and what a difference!

My last hair cut was back at the end of November and my locks remain sleek and shiny with not a split-end in sight. The process is easy. Here is what I do:

  1. After towel-drying my hair I spray on some Heat Tamer Spray and then smooth a dollop of Straightening Gel down the shaft of my hair before blowing out my hair with the dryer.
  2. Before using the straightening iron I spray a little more Heat Tamer Spray for added protection.

That’s it. Easy peasy, right! So if your hair styling routine uses heat be sure to stop at the store and get one of these products tonight.

  1. I really like the spray. I purchased it at the grocery store ( of all places!) a fews ago and it does as well as high end salon brands I have used in the past.

  2. I do use protection! 🙂 But I have not tried these products. I am almost out of my other stuff, so I might have to pick some of this out. Thank you!

  3. Where do you purchase these products? I have seen the shampoos before but not the heat related products.

  4. Good idea! I used to use something but haven’t lately.

  5. julie,

I purchased the TRESSemme products at Target. Nexxus, Sedu and Aveda are mostly found at professional salons but are also located in some other stores.
    Sedu is sold at Ulta.
Nexxus I have also seen at Target and some of the major chain drugstores.
