Tame the Hairy Beast!!

0904

I am hairy. Unfortunately, it is true. I normally need to shave every day if I want to have smooth legs and underarms. We won’t even get into other places. If I won the lottery, the first thing on my list would be to have laser hair removal on my entire body. Since that is probably not going to happen, I have had to become realistic and find something that works for me to stay smoother and not have to shave so often. Who has the time?

I have been working on this combination of the best shaving cream and the best razor since I was in the fifth grade. Can I tell you how mortified I was when a boy in my fifth grade class called me a monkey? After crying and pleading with my mother, I was finally allowed to shave. You should have seen that bathtub after my first shave. I should have been cast in the Planet of the Apes. It has been a struggle to stay smooth since then.

Anyway, I swear by Aveeno Positively Shave Gel and Venus Embrace razor. These are both expensive for drugstore products, but they are worth it if you are hairy and have suffered from the never.ending.shaving.ordeal.

Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Gel is a dermatologist recommended special formula that naturally helps you shave less often with an exclusive combination of natural soy extract and skin-silkening conditioners that have been shown to naturally minimize the reappearance of unwanted hair and with continued use will allow you to shave less often. This product is formulated with rich emollients and vitamins to immediately soften and condition hair, making it easier to get a close, smooth shave and prevent irritation. It also helps protect against nicks, cuts and even razor bumps.

As far as the Venus Embrace, it is superior to any razor that I’ve ever used. Gillette has had similar razors through the years and they have continued to improve their razors. The Embrace is the best one yet. The Embrace has 5 (count ’em five) curve-hugging blades that individually adjust to get virtually every hair and leave you with super smooth skin.

For all the hairy beasts out there, try this combination. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the results. These products may be expensive, but they are a whole lot cheaper than laser hair removal. The blades on the razor will actually last a long time too.

  1. I love the Venus! It is the one razor that will cut to the chase and get the job done. I will have to try the Aveeno though.

  2. I’m a fan of the men’s Gillette razor, and the last time I bothered to shave my legs, I swiped my husband’s shaving cream from The Body Shop.
Just curious if this was a complete no-no?

  3. I’m not hairy (I have other problems), but I love the Aveeno shaving cream. I’ll have to try the Venus razor. I never know which one to get so I choose the cheapest one each time.

  4. This razor ROCKS! It does the job without having to go over my legs 3 & 4 times like with other razors and I don’t get any razor bumps either. I give it a thumb’s up!

  5. Okay…what about the bikini line…does this cream work good on that? Sorry if that is not an okay question to ask?!
