A few weeks ago I confessed that I’d dumped a large sum of money on a department store product (two of them, actually) that the sales clerk promised would rid me of the winter dry skin flakies, but I was sorely underwhelmed. So one night I was perusing beauty blogs and I came across a post about a facial moisturizing product called The Solution by Envision Beauty. I was intrigued — a product that claims to do it all? A product that eliminates the need for multiple lotions and potions, which saves time and money and gets me into my glorious bed sooner every night? I did a quick google search and found more rave reviews. Could it be? I decided to try The Solution and see if there was any truth to the hype.
As for the hype — here is what it supposedly does:
The Solution completely replaces your (1) day cream, (2) night cream (3) eye cream (4) moisturizer (5) anti-aging serum and (6) pre-makeup base.
And here is a list of what it is and does with all those big words I can’t pronounce:
- Advanced lifting and firming action
- Decreases wrinkle density and the appearance of fine lines
- Improves collagen synthesis for the production of healthy and radiant skin
- Powerful natural antioxidants including Goji and Acai
- DMAE, Alpha Lipoic Acid, NaPCA, Hyaluronic Acid & Centella Asiatica
- Vital nutrients including Vitamins A, B5, C and E
- Deep-penetrating formula ideal for all skin types
- Paraben-Free, Ethyl Alcohol-Free, Cruelty-Free
I have been using The Solution morning and night for several weeks, and I am pleased. I like the way it goes on — not too thick, not too thin. I like the mild scent; some of the drugstore brands I’ve used are so heavily perfumed my kids and husband complain. And I like that I have hardly any flakies! I have to admit, there are a few between my brows, but I find that if I apply extra moisturizer there before doing my makeup, and am careful not to apply much face powder, it is okay. (It’s also important to exfoliate regularly during the winter months to keep that dead skin sloughed off.) There are no flakes on the apples of my cheeks as there were before. Now this could also be attributed to the fact that the temperature outside is no longer hovering below the freezing mark, I realize that. But all in all, I’m pleased with the product, and it’s so nice to have one product as opposed to three to apply every night!
At $74, it’s not cheap, but I spent more than that on the two products I purchased at the Clarins counter a while back, and that doesn’t even include the cost of the eye cream I was using. There is no charge for shipping, and they are offering 2-for-the-price-of-1 online right now.
Do you have a favorite moisturizer or skin care regimen? I’d love to hear about it.

I have also tried many MANY items for moisturizing. I have turned 45 and everything on my body seems so much drier. I have found a product that really works for me. I used it and loved it but tried others due to the cost. I have just gone back to it and am once again very satisfied. It is by Epionce and I have to use the renewal CREAM which is highly emolliant. I also use the Lytic Lite lotion as it does all the other stuff (I think) that I don’t do like exfoliate, etc. I will probably have to do that someday but for now my biggest deal is moisturizing! I hear they have a nice eye cream that I am saving up for as well. You can find this by googling it as it is not sold but in salons or on the internet.
MD Forte is amazing! My friend just introduced it to me (actually gave me a 1 week supply to try it). It tingles when it goes on, and it makes your face incredibly soft (baby’s butt soft), flake-free, smooths fine lines on forehead, and gets rid of bumps. There are several different products, but I use the cleanser and the cream. Outstanding!
Ok, I’ll admit it right out: I’m cheap. I NEVER buy anything at the department store! I also have sensitive skin and a touch of rosacea.
I use Boots (you can get it at Target). I use their Botanics moisturizing eye cream. It’s about $13 and I LOVE it. Keeps all the little wrinkles away, doesn’t sting my eyes, very slight fragrance. My only complaint is that it’s in a glass jar with a screw top lid. I prefer a dispenser because when you stick your hand in there every day, it can get kind of “off” after a while (I think).
I use Eucerin sensitive skin Extra Protective moisturizer in the day. It’s SPF 30 (very important!) and has no scent (more important to me!). It doesn’t make me break out and doesn’t feel sunscreeny on my face, even in the dead of the Arizona summers. I think that’s about $10-$12 a bottle but it lasts a long time.
At night, I use the Boots line again – the expert sensitive hydrating moisturizer. I think it was about $5 – and I was hesitant at first, but I LOVE it! Very moisturizing, not greasy, no scent, doesn’t leave a residue yet makes my face feel good. Can’t beat it.
