I found a sample of Clinique’s Even Better SPF 15 foundation in a magazine I was reading and I thought, what makes it better?
Ahem, let me try that again…
Sometimes I think it’s hard to tell if you are going to like something based on a smear of product on a piece of tinfoil, so I decided to just try it on half my face (yes, I stayed close to home that day). I knew the color wouldn’t be perfect (after all not everyone in the world can boast Iowa pasty-white like I can), I was only going after feel and what the product would look like at the end of the day.
The product says it’s oil-free, which clearly I do not understand what that means, since I thought it would actually be a lighter feeling than this foundation brings. If you have dry skin with small pores, chances are you’ll like it. As for me? By the end of four short hours the side with the foundation on it looked oily and magnified my pores. The “no product” side was still non-shiny and my pores looked normal.
The web-site says the product has these benefits:
Benefits: De-aging, Covers and treats uneven skin tone, Long wearing, Natural skin-perfecting look, Mineral enriched.
Which would be great if my face didn’t look like the grease pit in such a short amount of time. That and it’s not exactly inexpensive at the retail price of $24.50.
I know they say there’s no such thing as bad publicity (I mean, I am discussing this product for free, right?!) but I do question when a company puts those teeny samples in a magazine if they get the results they are looking for.
Have you ever purchased a makeup product after trying a sample from a magazine? C’mon, you can tell me!!

I just pulled the exact same sample of Glamour magazine and I want to try it… but I never end up using those samples. Why is that??
makeup never, but I have gotten perfume from a sample before. 🙂 Does that count? Oh, and I don’t think I’ve ever really tried the makeup samples from the magazines, though I can’t resist taking them out in the 1st place.
I’m pretty pasty myself and the samples in the magazines are always too dark. Of course it never occurred to me to try it anyway just to see how it feels… duh!
