In my real life I sell girly products (at wholesale) to Mom and Pop retail stores (for resale). I travel for my job, and along the way I see some of the cutest stores and meet some of the greatest people. The South has some great gift stores, ya’ll. I recently worked with a store in Cheraw, South Carolina. I would have thought that I walkd into something out of Steel Magnolias. The owner Deloris (a.k.a Truvy) is a warm, friendly, full-of-energywoman. She has built an amazing business in a small town of 5,000 people. You can go there to get Merle Norman Cosmetics, get your hair done, get a massage, get a facial or microdermabrasion, get a mani/pedi, buy a pocketbook, or a pair of Rainbow flip flops, buy a gift for any occasion, get a gift basket made, or have a build-a-bear constructed and outfited. What a fun store!

They call themselves “Merle’s Girls”, and even wear t-shirts that say “Merle’s Girls”. Cute. Below is the owner Deloris (a.ka. Truvy) on the left and the sweetest makin’ over girl ever, Brigette (a.k.a. Annelle…except Brigette is not strange or weird). They offer free steam facials (which I had to have one after I got done working) and then you get a free makeover. It was a fun, girly treat. The regulars are coming in once or twice a month to get them. My skin felt amazingly hydrated when we got through. What I noticed was that “Truvy”, “Annelle” and the rest of the regulars who came in (and there were a bunch of them) had amazing skin. Very smooth. I think I am going to have to try some of their skin care products. They even have a special gel for hormonal skin. Sounds like it was made for me. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to try first, but I settled on some eye shadows. They have some beautiful colors. My favorites include cola, hazel and sand. Those colors really made my hazel eyes pop. If you haven’t given Merle Norman a try, find you a small, cute little Merle Norman store that gives you extra special one on one attention and treat yourself to a makeover. If you happen to be in Cheraw, SC, go visit Truvy and the girls to get your free steam facial (loved it) and a makeover. They’ll leave the light on for ‘ya!!

Loved this post. I wanna go to Merle’s Girls. What a fun place. Do you sell to them?
Oh, my wedding make up came from Merle Norman 23 years ago. I remember sitting in the shop and they put different colors of eye shadows on each of my eyes and then asked the other customers which one looked more like a bride. Such a fun memory. Thanks for helping me remember it!
