In today’s times many of us are learning to become more “thrifty” . Not cheap, but THRIFTY. We are buying home decor at garage sales and thrift stores, clothes on ebay or on sale, even barter when we can. Don’t get me wrong. I know we all still like NICE things, we like to be pampered and have beautiful homes, but we like to do it and spend as little as possible. Sometimes it can even become like a “game”, for me. See how much I can get on the least amount of money. My friends are usually none the wiser, and when they DO know, they’re SHOCKED!
My dear sister-in-law shared this thrifty little beauty tip with me several years ago, and I use it all the time……….Baking Soda as a face scrub!
Yes that’s right, Baking Soda is a cheap and effective facial scrub that leaves you with nice and soft skin.
How? First wash and dry your face to remove make-up and dirt. Then pour some baking soda into the palm of your hand and add a little water to make a paste (about 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water, but I just eyeball it). Rub in a circular motion over entire face. Rinse. Dry. That’s it! Easy peasy clean skin and it didn’t cost you an arm and a leg!
If you want to get all “fancy” with it, you can mix baking soda with oatmeal in your blender for a great facial scrub.
So give it a try! After all, what do you have to lose? If you don’t like it, use it to scrub the shower, brush your teeth or stick it in the fridge to keep it smelling fresh!

I have been doing this for a couple years now and I love it! I have combination skin and it works really well in the summer to keep me from being too oily, but it’s very gentle and doesn’t make my skin dry. I don’t need it as much during the winter. I would highly recommend that everyone try this!
I love baking soda! You can use it for anything! I occasionally brush with a combo of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to brush my teeth. And, of course, it’s a great cheap “green” cleaner, too. I’ve never tried it as a face scrub but can’t wait to! Thanks for the tip.
It’ll only cost you an arm and a hammer!
Sorry, could not resist :-). You made that one easy.
